Description
Flexible resistance mats for preheat and PWHT
The Weldotherm 200224 is a 60 V ceramic pad heater measuring 255 x 215 mm with 10 x 10 ceramic beads. Like every element in the Weldotherm 60 V range, it draws 45 A and delivers 2.7 kW. The mat is built from 96% aluminium oxide ceramic beads threaded on NiCr 80/20 heating wire, so it bends around pipe, flanges and nozzles and transfers heat by direct contact.
Ceramic pad heaters are the standard heating element for resistance preheating and post-weld heat treatment of circumferential pipe welds, flange and branch connections and for area heating on plate and vessels. They are connected to a heat treatment unit with 60 V outputs.

The full list runs from 200200 to 200259. Long narrow pads wrap small-bore pipe; square pads suit flat areas and large diameters.
Selecting pads for a joint
The heated band width and the number of pads around the circumference follow the applicable PWHT code and the pipe diameter; each pad is connected to one output of the heat treatment unit and controlled by a thermocouple under or near it. Insulation over the pads reduces heat loss and improves uniformity. A 30 V range in matching sizes is available for 30 V outputs.

Weldotherm heat treatment units
The resistance range runs from the WR 10,5 inverter to the multi-channel STANDARD EUROPA and VAS series, the VAS offering up to 12 control circuits at 30 V and 60 V. The VAI series uses induction, generating heat in the material itself. Weldotherm also supplies the heating elements used with these units.
