VEGA VEGACAP 67 High-Temperature Capacitive Level Switch 400 °C
Description
A 400 °C capacitive probe for hot bulk solids
The VEGACAP 67 is the high-temperature member of VEGA’s capacitive switch family, a point level sensor for bulk solids with a process temperature rating of -50 to +400 °C. It comes as a rod up to 6 m or a cable up to 40 m, the wetted parts are stainless steel, and the probe insulation is made of ceramic. The sheet describes the transistor (NPN/PNP) version, powered from 10 to 55 V DC, and lists a pressure rating of -1 to +16 bar, which suits hot silos for cement clinker, ash, foundry sand and hot granules rather than pressurised vessels.

Handling heat
At 400 °C the electronics cannot sit at the process temperature, so the sheet separates the figures: the ambient, storage and transport temperature stays at -40 to +80 °C while the probe itself is rated to +400 °C. Installers should therefore check the temperature at the housing against the manufacturer’s derating information and the insulation of the vessel wall, since a hot nozzle and a long insulated roof can raise housing temperature beyond the ambient limit.
Selection and ordering
VEGA’s stated benefits are universal use in bulk solids through the wide temperature range, long life with low maintenance, and the flexibility of a shortenable probe. Choose the rod for a short extension from a side wall or the roof, and the cable for deep silos where a point level far below the roof is needed. The maximum pressure is 16 bar, lower than the VEGACAP 65 or 66, so the 67 is chosen for temperature, not pressure.
For an RFQ give the probe type, length, thread or flange, product, temperature and supply. The sheet notes that other electronics versions exist, namely contactless electronic switch, relay and a two-wire type, so please confirm the right version and any ATEX, IEC or ship approval with the manufacturer before ordering.

About brand
VEGA is a German maker of level and pressure instruments. Bruno Grieshaber founded the company in 1959 in Triberg in the Black Forest, and it has been based in Schiltach since 1975, still family owned as VEGA Grieshaber KG. VEGA is best known for radar level sensors: it introduced the first two-wire radar level sensor in 1997 and the first 80 GHz radar sensor for bulk solids, the VEGAPULS 69, in 2015.
Seven Star LLC is an independent supplier listing VEGA radar and guided wave radar transmitters, point level switches, pressure transmitters and signal conditioning instruments for buyers in Oman and the GCC. Sensors are matched from the product code on the type label.

Where VEGA instruments are used
VEGA radar sensors measure level in crude oil and product tanks, separators, chemical reactors, cement and aggregate silos, grain stores and water reservoirs. Compact cable radars are widely used in wastewater pumping stations and flood monitoring. Because 80 GHz radar focuses a narrow beam, it can measure past internal structures in a tank, and it is not affected by the temperature, pressure or vapour above the product, which suits hot Gulf storage tanks.
Ordering VEGA instruments: what we need
The product code on the type label (for example PS64.XXXXXXX) fixes the measuring range, antenna or probe, process connection, electronics and approvals. Send it with the serial number. For a new measurement add the medium and its dielectric constant if known, tank or silo height and internals, process pressure and temperature, process connection, output (4-20 mA HART, PROFIBUS PA, Modbus or IO-Link), and any hazardous-area or overfill protection approval required.
