Description
A sheet steel compact enclosure for field wiring
The Rittal AE 1380.500 is a single-door compact enclosure of sheet steel, 380 mm wide, 380 mm high and 210 mm deep, supplied with a mounting plate and a gland plate in the base. The enclosure and door are dipcoat primed and powder-coated on the outside in textured RAL 7035, and the door carries an all-round foamed-in polyurethane seal. It is rated IP 66 to IEC 60529, NEMA 4 and IK08, which suits wall-mounted terminal and control boxes in dusty or washed-down areas.

Fitting and accessories
The enclosure body is folded and welded from a single piece with a protective channel around the door opening and a rear panel with countersunk holes for wall-mounting brackets. The door opens 130 degrees and can be retrofitted to 180 degrees according to the tender text, with the hinge side changeable on site. Rittal lists accessories for the AE range such as lock inserts, wall-mounting brackets, plastic gland plates, earthing straps, wiring plan pockets, door stay, viewing window, panels, heaters, fan-and-filter units, heat exchangers and rain canopy. The tender text adds that its electronic accessories are for 600 mm wide enclosures only, so check each accessory against the enclosure size before specifying it.
What to confirm before ordering
Check the internal space against the mounting plate size of 334 x 355 mm, the cable gland layout on the size 3 gland plate, the approval needed for the project (the marine and UL approvals shown on this sheet apply to this article number) and the lock type, since the supplied cylinder is a 3 mm double-bit insert.
