Finder 62.32.9.024.4800 16 A Magnetic Blow DC Power Relay

Description

A 16 A power relay built for switching DC loads

The 62.32.9.024.4800 is a two-pole power relay from the Finder 62 series in the magnetic blow version. Both poles are normally open, rated 16 A at 250 V AC, and a permanent magnet in the contact chamber drives the arc away from the contacts so the relay can break direct current loads far above what an ordinary 16 A relay manages. The coil is 24 V DC and the terminals are plug-in or Faston 187 (4.8 x 0.5 mm).

Ordinary relay contacts that break DC at 125 or 220 V struggle because a DC arc does not extinguish at a current zero. The magnetic blow version of the 62.32 is rated 16 A / 12 A / 6 A resistive (DC1) at 24 / 125 / 220 V, and 10 A / 2 A / 1.2 A for inductive loads (L/R = 40 ms) at the same voltages. The standard 62.32 is rated only 0.6 A at 110 V DC, so the magnetic version is the one to specify for battery-fed and other DC-bus load switching.

Choosing the magnetic blow version

The 62.32 type exists in several forms: the standard 2 CO and 2 NO versions with AC or DC coils, a 3-pole 62.33, PCB 62.22 and 62.23 types, and the Faston 250 flange types 62.82 and 62.83. The 4800 code is the one with a magnet fitted, available as 1 pole double break (62.31-4800) or 2 pole (62.32-4800), always with a DC coil.

The datasheet gives separate maximum DC breaking capacity curves for the 62.31 and 62.32 magnetic blow versions, and the load voltage and current should be checked against those curves rather than only against the table figures. Where the load is AC only, the standard 62.32 without magnetic blow is the simpler choice.

Sockets and what to confirm before ordering

The 62.32 plugs into the 92.03 box clamp socket (16 A, 250 V, 35 mm rail or panel mount) with a metal retaining clip, identification tags and 99.02 coil indication or EMC modules as accessories. PCB sockets 92.13 and panel solder sockets 92.33 are also listed. Confirm the DC voltage and whether the load is resistive or inductive, then read the DC breaking curve in the datasheet for that voltage. About brand

Finder is an Italian manufacturer of relays, timers, power supplies and other electromechanical and electronic devices, founded in 1954 and headquartered in Almese, in the Susa Valley of Piedmont. Seven Star LLC, an independent supplier in Muscat, lists Finder modular contactors, safety relays and DIN rail power supplies for control panels, building services and machine automation.

Relay, contactor and power supply families

The range runs from step relays and modular contactors to safety relays with forcibly guided contacts and switch mode power supplies for 35 mm rail. Each series has a datasheet with ordering codes, coil data, contact ratings, derating curves and approvals, so a part can be specified or replaced by its full type code rather than by series name alone.

Ordering Finder products: what we need

Quote the complete ordering code, including coil voltage and contact variant, together with the quantity, the supply voltage and frequency of the installation and any approvals the project requires. With that information the matching Finder version can be confirmed against the datasheet before a quotation is issued.

Frequently Asked Questions

What makes the 62.32.9.024.4800 different from a standard 62.32?
