BARTEC ComEx 07-352 Control and Indicating Station

Description

Overview

The BARTEC ComEx Global control and indicating station, type 07-352, is a modular local control station for hazardous areas. It gives operators push buttons, emergency stops, selector and key switches, pilot lights and potentiometers next to the equipment they control, such as a pump, a motor, a conveyor, a gate or a fan, while the station itself is certified for Zone 1 and Zone 21. BARTEC designed the system so that standard single, double and triple GRP enclosures can be fitted with a wide choice of actuators and modules, which lets one family cover both standardised stations and customised layouts. The range is certified for global markets under ATEX, UKEX, IECEx and UL.

Seven Star LLC supplies the BARTEC ComEx 07-352 station on request to electrical contractors, motor control panel builders and plant maintenance teams in Oman and the GCC, with engineering support in Muscat. Local control stations are needed in large numbers on any process plant, and a modular design with clear ordering codes makes it easier to standardise station layouts across a project and to keep a small stock of modules for repairs.

Operating Principle

Inside a BARTEC ComEx station, each actuator on the front of the enclosure drives a separate switch, indicator or potentiometer module mounted behind it. The certified protection concept combines flameproof (Ex db) and increased safety (Ex eb) protection, marked Ex db eb IIC T6 Gb. Where intrinsically safe signals are used, for example for illuminated indicators or push buttons wired to an Ex i input, the station is certified Ex db ia IIC T6 Gb. For combustible dust, the marking is Ex tb IIIC T80 °C Db.

This combined approach means that standard control voltages can be switched inside the hazardous area without a heavy flameproof enclosure for the whole station. The modules occupy one slot each, while four-pole switch modules and large control switches use two slots and need at least a two-gang enclosure. A maximum of two ComEx devices can be combined, and the enclosure is rated up to IP67 and NEMA 4X for outdoor installation.

Engineering Design of the BARTEC ComEx

Three standard GRP enclosures are available: the single type 07-3521 at roughly 89 × 88 mm, the double type 07-3522 at about 91 × 130 mm, and the triple type 07-3523 at about 93 × 176 mm, each 78.4 mm deep. The BARTEC ComEx enclosures and modules are rated for service temperatures from -55 °C to +85 °C, actuators from -55 °C to +70 °C, and cable glands from -55 °C to +70 °C or +75 °C. Terminals accept conductors from 0.75 mm² to 2.5 mm² (18 to 12 AWG), and the station is approved for altitudes up to 2000 m.

The actuator list in the data sheet covers universal and labelled push buttons (START, STOP, ON, OFF, I, O), double push buttons, mushroom buttons, emergency stops in pull-to-release and twist-to-release versions with or without shroud, selector switches in latching and momentary variants, and key-operated switches. Switch modules come as 2 NC, 2 NO or 1 NO / 1 NC with silver or gold-plated silver contacts, and the pilot lights and illuminated indicators are available in red, green, yellow, white and blue.

Industrial Applications

Typical BARTEC ComEx installations are local start/stop and emergency stop stations beside pumps, compressors, agitators and fans; hand-off-auto selector stations for motor control; local indication of running and tripped status; and speed setpoint stations with a potentiometer for variable speed drives. In Oman these stations are used on production and gathering facilities, gas plants, refinery and petrochemical units in Sohar and Duqm, fuel terminals and pharmaceutical or chemical plants, where the GRP enclosure resists corrosion from coastal air and process chemicals.

Seven Star LLC can supply BARTEC ComEx stations to your ordering code or help build the code from a control station schedule. Many plants also use metal-bodied stations from other makers, and we supply alternatives such as the Cooper Crouse-Hinds EFSC215 pushbutton control station and the Cooper Crouse-Hinds EDS225 control station. For mobile work in the same areas, BARTEC field devices such as the Bartec EXguard mobile gas detection system can be included on the same BARTEC ComEx order.

About brand
Explosion protection is the common thread in everything BARTEC makes. The company was founded in 1975 and is based in Bad Mergentheim, Germany, and its equipment is built to work safely where flammable gas or dust may be present. Seven Star LLC lists BARTEC process analyzers, Ex enclosures, switching components and hazardous-area tablets, and supplies them to refineries, gas plants and panel builders in Oman by type number.

BARTEC product families on this page

The analyzer group is the largest. Under the HYGROPHIL name there are the HYGROPHIL F 5674 process trace moisture analyzer and the Hygrophil HCDT hydrocarbon dew-point analyzer. Under the BARTEC BENKE name there are the RVP-4 vapor pressure process analyzer and the P-600 salt in crude analyzer. The electrical side is represented by the GUB flameproof Ex d IIC enclosure and the 07-1511 series insert switch, a component used inside control stations. The Agile X IS is a tablet PC for Zone 1, and the EXguard is a mobile gas detection system for hot work.

Where BARTEC equipment is used

Moisture and hydrocarbon dew-point analyzers monitor natural gas at dehydration units, pipeline entry points and custody stations. Vapor pressure and salt in crude analyzers serve refinery blending and crude treatment. Flameproof enclosures and Ex switches go into local control stations, junction boxes and motor starters. Ex tablets are used for inspection rounds and work permits on GCC oil and gas sites.

Ordering BARTEC parts: what we need

BARTEC identifies products by a type number, such as 07-1511-154D/02 or 5674-xx. Send that number in full with the serial number from the label. For analyzers we also need the gas or liquid composition, pressure and temperature at the sample point, the measuring span, the area classification and the signal outputs. For enclosures give the size, the required gas group and temperature class, and the cable entry schedule.

Frequently Asked Questions

Which hazardous areas is the BARTEC ComEx station suitable for?
The station is certified for Zone 1 and Zone 2 gas atmospheres up to group IIC and for Zone 21 and Zone 22 dust atmospheres. The marking includes Ex db eb IIC T6 Gb, Ex db ia IIC T6 Gb and Ex tb IIIC T80 degC Db, with ATEX, UKEX, IECEx and UL certification.
How many operating devices can one station hold?
Single, double and triple enclosures accept one, two or three single-slot modules. Four-pole switch modules and large control switches use two slots, so they need at least a double enclosure.
Is an emergency stop available on the BARTEC ComEx?
Yes. The data sheet lists pull-to-release and twist-to-release emergency stop actuators, with or without labelling and with or without a protective shroud, combined with the appropriate NC switch module.
Can the station be used outdoors in hot or coastal climates?
Yes. The GRP enclosure is rated up to IP67 and NEMA 4X, and enclosures and modules are rated for service temperatures from -55 to +85 degC, which suits outdoor process areas in Oman.
Does Seven Star LLC supply BARTEC ComEx stations in Oman?
Yes. Seven Star LLC supplies BARTEC ComEx control and indicating stations configured to your ordering code or station schedule, for customers in Oman and the GCC, with engineering support in Muscat.
