Raytek Marathon MM Series Fixed Infrared Pyrometer

Description

A networkable fixed pyrometer with through-the-lens sighting and video option

The Raytek Marathon MM series is a compact fixed-mount infrared pyrometer for industrial heating, forming and metal processing, covering -40 to 2250 degC. The through-the-lens sight, optional variable focus and optional video head make it suitable for aiming at small or distant targets, and the RS485 output lets up to 32 sensors share one network.

The LT, G7, G5, MT and 3M models differ in spectral response. Choose by material and temperature, not by temperature alone.

Sighting, accessories and installation

Aiming uses a through-the-lens visual sight with either a laser or a video camera. Video models give a live picture for real-time monitoring and recording. The standard scope includes a stainless steel mounting nut, a fixed bracket, the operator manual and DataTemp Multidrop software.

The manufacturer lists a stainless steel sight tube to 800 degC and a ceramic sight tube to 1500 degC, a pipe thread adapter, a protective window, USB/RS485 converter, industrial power supply, terminal blocks, adjustable bracket, high- and low-temperature cables and a ThermoJacket enclosure for ambient temperatures up to 315 degC. Order options must be specified at the time of order.

Selection notes and what to confirm

Match the spectral response and range in the table to the target material: LT covers -40 to 800 degC, MT 250 to 1100 degC, G5H reaches 2250 degC and 3M offers the fastest response at 20 ms. Confirm the model code, laser or video sighting, variable focus, cooling, network address plan and accessories. Ambient temperature at the mounting position and the spot size needed at working distance both decide whether cooling or a different optic is required. For simpler fixed measurements see the Raytek Compact CI, or browse temperature instrumentation.

About brand

Raytek is the name on a long line of non-contact infrared temperature sensors, today presented by the manufacturer under Fluke Process Instruments. Seven Star LLC lists the Raytek Compact CI infrared spot pyrometer and supplies Raytek fixed-mount pyrometers to manufacturing and process plants in Oman. The Compact CI is a small sensor meant to be built into machines and production lines.

Raytek pyrometer families

The manufacturer's current range keeps the Raytek name on the Compact CI and CM sensors, the Compact MI3 with its multi-sensor design, the Marathon MM with high-resolution optics, and the handheld Raynger 3i Plus. The Compact CI and CM are described as rugged, easy to install units for OEM and end-user applications. The Thermalert 4.0 and Endurance series cover wider spectral and temperature needs.

Ordering Raytek sensors: what we need

Send the full model code from the sensor label, since it fixes the temperature range, the output type and the cable length. For a new measuring point, give the target material and surface, the temperature span, the distance and target size, and the ambient temperature at the sensor. Mention accessories such as air purge collars or mounting brackets. GCC inquiries are welcome.
