The Raytek Endurance Series is a family of fixed-mount infrared pyrometers for very high temperature processes, from 50 up to 3200 degC. It combines a rugged stainless steel IP65 / NEMA 4 head with optical resolution up to 300:1, through-the-lens sighting, networking and a 4 year manufacturer warranty.

Single-colour (M) and two-colour (R) models are offered. Two-colour operation is used where dust, steam or a partially obscured target would otherwise bias a single-colour reading, and the dirty-window alarm warns when the optics are contaminated.

Interfaces, software and diagnostics

The sensor can be configured and monitored remotely with Endurance software and offers a LAN/Ethernet interface with ASCII, video and web server access. Optional Profinet and EtherNet/IP interfaces allow direct fieldbus connection. The unique dirty-window alarm, fail-safe alarm and programmable relay support unattended monitoring of furnaces, heat treatment, induction heating and forging.

Signal processing includes peak hold, valley hold, averaging and ambient background temperature compensation. The isolated analog inputs and outputs allow emissivity, e-slope and background temperature to be set from the control system.

Selecting the model and what to confirm before ordering

Start with the target: bright metal at high temperature usually calls for a 1.0 um model (E1), lower-temperature metal for 1.6 um (E2) and cooler surfaces for 2.4 um (E3). Choose the R versions where the target may be partly obscured, otherwise the M versions. Options such as water cooling with air purge collar and Profinet or EtherNet/IP must be specified at time of order.

Raytek is the name on a long line of non-contact infrared temperature sensors, today presented by the manufacturer under Fluke Process Instruments. Seven Star LLC lists the Raytek Compact CI infrared spot pyrometer and supplies Raytek fixed-mount pyrometers to manufacturing and process plants in Oman. The Compact CI is a small sensor meant to be built into machines and production lines.

Raytek pyrometer families

The manufacturer's current range keeps the Raytek name on the Compact CI and CM sensors, the Compact MI3 with its multi-sensor design, the Marathon MM with high-resolution optics, and the handheld Raynger 3i Plus. The Compact CI and CM are described as rugged, easy to install units for OEM and end-user applications. The Thermalert 4.0 and Endurance series cover wider spectral and temperature needs.

Ordering Raytek sensors: what we need

Send the full model code from the sensor label, since it fixes the temperature range, the output type and the cable length. For a new measuring point, give the target material and surface, the temperature span, the distance and target size, and the ambient temperature at the sensor. Mention accessories such as air purge collars or mounting brackets. GCC inquiries are welcome.
