Orbitalum DVR M Welding Rotary Device for Orbital TIG
Overview
The Orbitalum DVR M is a welding rotary device, or welding turntable, that rotates the workpiece under a fixed TIG machine torch. Orbitalum Tools developed it for jobs where a closed orbital weld head is not the right tool: fittings, flanges, shaped pieces and short spool components that must be welded in quantity with consistent quality. The Orbitalum DVR M combines a compact, transportable frame with industrial robustness, so it works both in a prefabrication shop and on a construction site.
Seven Star LLC supplies the Orbitalum DVR M to fabricators and contractors in Oman and the GCC, with engineering support in Muscat. We help buyers put together the complete set, because the turntable needs a compatible power source and several accessories that are ordered separately, and we provide the official Orbitalum datasheet for technical review.
Working Principle
In general terms, a welding turntable reverses the logic of an orbital weld head. Instead of the torch travelling around a stationary pipe, the component is clamped in a chuck and turned at a controlled speed while the torch stays in one place. This makes it easy to weld a flange to a pipe stub, a fitting to a short tube, or a cap to a vessel nozzle, all of which would be awkward to enclose in a weld head. On the Orbitalum DVR M the chuck is driven by a 24 V DC encoder motor, and the rotation is controlled together with the welding current by an Orbitalum power source from the Mobile Welder, Smart Welder or Power Welder series. The datasheet states that the DVR M can only be used with power sources from these series.
The turntable can be swivelled from 0 to 90 degrees in 22.5 degree increments, so the same machine produces horizontal and vertical welds. A 72 mm hollow shaft lets long tubes pass through the chuck, and a counter support extends the permissible workpiece length. Because the torch is held on a stand with a cross slide for fine adjustment, it can be aligned precisely without tools and then left fixed for a whole batch, which is where the repeatability of the Orbitalum DVR M comes from.
Engineering Design of the Orbitalum DVR M
The base is a rugged steel construction designed for continuous industrial use. The torch stand holds a gas-cooled TIG machine torch on a 360 degree rotatable holder mounted on a cross slide, and a position stop on the torch arm helps the operator return to the same set-up after loading a new part. An integrated control panel is built into the machine frame for ergonomic operation. The overall dimensions are 670 × 665 × 600 mm, and the machine ships in a reusable transport crate that can be moved with a forklift or pallet truck.
The recommended three-jaw lathe chuck has an outer diameter of 200 mm and is made of hardened and ground steel with stepped jaws. Its clamping ranges, as listed by Orbitalum, run from 9.53 to 90 mm for the inner step d1 up to 120 to 202 mm for outer step d3, so a wide range of tubes and fittings can be held. The chuck (code 855 002 001), the TP/MH/DVR M control cable (7.5 m, code 811 050 003) and the ground cable (5 m, code 890 030 015) are essential and must be ordered separately with the Orbitalum DVR M.

- Compact and mobile, supplied with torch stand, accessory set and a fork-liftable transport case.
Industrial Applications
The Orbitalum DVR M is best suited to prefabrication and pre-assembly of thin-walled stainless components in series. In general, typical work for this kind of turntable includes weld-neck and lap-joint flanges on tube stubs, sanitary ferrules, reducers, end caps and instrument manifolds. Orbitalum also positions it as a supplement to an orbital weld head: the head welds the pipe-to-pipe joints in place, while the turntable handles the fittings and non-orbital components that would otherwise be welded manually.
For fabricators in Oman and the GCC building skids for water treatment, desalination, chemical dosing, food processing and pharmaceutical plants, this division of work raises throughput and keeps weld appearance consistent. Seven Star LLC supplies the Orbitalum DVR M with the matching power source options from Muscat; the Lincoln Electric Power Wave S500 and ESAB Rebel EMP 285ic are other machines that shops often run alongside it for heavier manual and mechanised work. More equipment is listed in our orbital pipe welding systems range.

Ordering Notes
When planning an Orbitalum DVR M purchase, list the parts you intend to weld, their outside diameters and weights, and whether vertical or horizontal welding is needed. These details confirm whether a counter support is required and which chuck step will hold the part. Also confirm which Orbitalum power source you already own, since the turntable cannot run with other brands. Manual welding stations such as the LongTeng EL8 remain useful for tack welding and repairs in the same cell.
