Optrel liteflip autopilot Flip-Up Auto-Darkening Welding Helmet

Description

A flip-up helmet that sets its own protection level

The Optrel liteflip autopilot is a flip-up auto-darkening welding helmet from Optrel AG, Switzerland. The shade cartridge is carried on a flip adapter: raised, it gives a clear view at shade 1 for grinding, chipping slag or inspection, and folded down it works as a normal auto-darkening filter. The autopilot function detects the brightness of the arc and sets the dark shade between 5 and 14 automatically, with a correction of up to two shade levels if the welder prefers a lighter or darker picture.

This saves the welder from re-setting the helmet when moving from low-current TIG to heavy stick or flux-cored work, and the high end of the range, shade 14, suits very bright arcs. Optrel describes the view as color-fast thanks to a specially developed UV/IR filter.

Welding processes and respiratory options

Optrel lists all electric welding processes for the liteflip autopilot: stick, MIG/MAG including high-performance GMAW, flux-cored, TIG, plasma and microplasma welding and plasma cutting, plus grinding with the flip adapter raised. The comfort headband spreads the weight of the helmet to relieve the neck and throat. Interchangeable side panels allow a fresh-air configuration, and Optrel lists a ready-to-weld package that combines the helmet with its Swiss Air respiratory system.

The flip-up layout is practical in shops where welding alternates with grinding on the same joint, because the welder does not have to remove the helmet. When the main need is the lightest possible resting state, compare it with the Optrel crystal2.0, or see the welding helmets and face protection category.

About brand

Welders usually know Optrel by the view through the lens. The Swiss company, founded in 1986 and based in Wattwil, makes auto-darkening welding helmets, grinding helmets and powered air respirators. Seven Star LLC lists the Optrel crystal2.0, e684, panoramaxx clt and panoramaxx 2.5 helmets and supplies them, with their spare lenses and headgear, to fabricators and contractors in Oman and the GCC.

Optrel welding helmets listed here

The crystal2.0 and the panoramaxx clt use Optrel's Crystal Lens Technology, which gives a very light, clear view at shade level 2.0 before the arc strikes. The panoramaxx helmets have a nose cut-out that brings the lens closer to the eyes and widens the field of view; the panoramaxx 2.5 has a light state of shade level 2.5. The e684 adjusts its shade level automatically to the arc. For fume protection Optrel pairs helmets with its e3000X and swiss air respiratory systems.

Where Optrel helmets are used

Fabrication shops, pipe spools, tank and structural work and site maintenance, on TIG, MIG/MAG and stick welding.

Ordering Optrel helmets and spares: what we need

State the helmet model and color, with or without respirator connection, and any hard hat adapter. For spares, give the model and say front cover lens, inside cover lens, sweatband or headgear.
