Optrel suppliedair Comfort Supplied-Air Respiratory Unit

Description

A belt-mounted interface between a compressed air line and a fresh air helmet

The Optrel suppliedair Comfort (part number 4090.000) connects a breathing air supply to Optrel PAPR helmets. It is worn on a comfort belt, and the delivery includes the unit, the air hose to the helmet, a flowmeter and user instructions. Optrel names boiler construction, container construction, toxic environments, enclosed spaces and extremely confined situations as typical areas of use.

It is built for flow of 170 to 250 l/min, which is adjustable, and gives an audible alarm if pressure drops below 3.5 bar. The housing is a Zytel ST801 polyamide and ABS body, and the belt fits waist sizes of 60 to 150 cm.

Air quality and limits of use

The unit must be used only with breathable air. Optrel states that it must not be used in atmospheres that are immediately dangerous to life or health (IDLH), or where contaminants are so concentrated that a protection class above 3A is needed. It is not evaluated as an ignition source in flammable or explosive atmospheres.

A breathing air supply needs suitable treatment, so plan for filtration, pressure control and a hose that matches the site. Optrel lists accessories such as 10 m standard, antistatic and spiral compressed air hoses, an air treatment unit, a variable area flowmeter and a flexible hose to the PAPR helmet, together with consumables such as the filter, silencer and replacement belt.

Selection and ordering

Use the suppliedair with the compatible Optrel helmets, for example the clearmaxx grinding helmet and the welding helmets in welding helmets and face protection. In the clearmaxx manual, supplied air is rated EN 14594 2B with that helmet. See also respiratory protection for other options.

Confirm the quick-coupling type on your air line, the helmet used, the breathing-air source and local approvals before ordering. The manufacturer shop shows the item as unavailable at present. For a quotation send the part number 4090.000 or 4090.010, quantity and delivery location.

About brand

Welders usually know Optrel by the view through the lens. The Swiss company, founded in 1986 and based in Wattwil, makes auto-darkening welding helmets, grinding helmets and powered air respirators. Seven Star LLC lists the Optrel crystal2.0, e684, panoramaxx clt and panoramaxx 2.5 helmets and supplies them, with their spare lenses and headgear, to fabricators and contractors in Oman and the GCC.

Optrel welding helmets listed here

The crystal2.0 and the panoramaxx clt use Optrel's Crystal Lens Technology, which gives a very light, clear view at shade level 2.0 before the arc strikes. The panoramaxx helmets have a nose cut-out that brings the lens closer to the eyes and widens the field of view; the panoramaxx 2.5 has a light state of shade level 2.5. The e684 adjusts its shade level automatically to the arc. For fume protection Optrel pairs helmets with its e3000X and swiss air respiratory systems.

Where Optrel helmets are used

Fabrication shops, pipe spools, tank and structural work and site maintenance, on TIG, MIG/MAG and stick welding.

Ordering Optrel helmets and spares: what we need

State the helmet model and color, with or without respirator connection, and any hard hat adapter. For spares, give the model and say front cover lens, inside cover lens, sweatband or headgear.
