Brand: Optrel
Optrel panoramaxx quattro Auto-Darkening Welding Helmet
Description
Auto-darkening welding helmet with the widest Optrel panoramic view
The Optrel panoramaxx quattro is an auto-darkening welding helmet with a large, colour-realistic panoramic filter, ShadeTronic variable shade 3/4 to 13 and the best optical class, 1/1/1/1 according to EN 379. It is aimed at welders in structural, pipe and fabrication work who need clear side visibility and a stable view of the weld pool across MIG/MAG, TIG and stick processes. The manual states the helmet suits all common welding processes except gas and laser welding.
Power comes from solar cells and a rechargeable lithium-polymer battery, with an automatic switch-off after about ten minutes in darkness. A grinding mode, sensitivity regulation, a FadeTronic opening delay with twilight function and the IsoFit headgear are listed in the product information.

Setting up for the job
In automatic mode the filter adapts to arc intensity through the sensors; in manual mode the knob sets shade 8 to 13. The correction control moves the automatic shade by plus or minus two levels to suit the process, and the sensitivity setting is raised for low-current TIG. Choose the lower delay for tack welding and the longer delay after high-current welding. The helmet should not be used with stickers applied, and the manual points out that panoramic design can affect peripheral vision and colour perception.
What to confirm before ordering
Confirm the version needed (standard or PAPR-ready for use with the
), the headgear and spare lens set. The Optrel shop currently shows some variants as unavailable, so check supply before relying on a quantity. Similar helmets are the panoramaxx clt and others in Welding Helmets and Face Protection. How the Optrel panoramaxx quattro auto-darkening filter works
An auto-darkening welding filter is a liquid crystal cell that stays light until the arc starts. Sensors on the helmet watch for the arc light, and when they see it the filter darkens within microseconds, so the welder does not need to flip a visor down before striking the arc. The panoramaxx quattro has five sensors, which helps the filter keep dark when one sensor is covered by the workpiece or by the welder’s arm. When the arc stops, the filter returns to its light state after a delay that the welder can set, so that the glowing weld pool does not dazzle the eyes.
Where the panoramaxx quattro is used
- MIG/MAG, TIG and stick electrode welding in fabrication shops.
- Structural steel and pipe welding where side visibility helps in tight positions.
- Maintenance and repair welding in plants and workshops.
- Work with grinding between weld runs, using the grinding mode.
- Low-current TIG, where the high sensitivity setting is useful.
Selection checklist for the panoramaxx quattro helmet
- Welding processes: all common arc processes, but not gas or laser welding, as the manual states.
- Shade range: 3/4 to 13 in automatic mode and 8 to 13 in manual mode.
- Optical class 1/1/1/1 according to EN 379.
- Switching time of 90 microseconds at 23 degrees C.
- Dark to light delay from 0.1 to 2.0 seconds.
- Power from solar cells and a rechargeable lithium-polymer battery.
- Operating temperature from -10 to +55 degrees C.
- Weight of about 575 g, and the fit of the IsoFit headgear for long shifts.
- Whether the PAPR version is needed for fume protection.
Setting up, care and maintenance of the helmet
Before welding, set the shade for the current and the process, and adjust the sensitivity and the delay. Check the helmet in a test run on scrap metal. Keep the outer cover lens and the filter surface clean, replace the cover lens when it is scratched or covered with spatter, and charge the battery through the Micro USB port when needed. Store the helmet in a dry place away from heat. A helmet protects the eyes and face, but it does not replace fume extraction or respiratory protection, which must be chosen separately.
Requesting a quotation for the Optrel panoramaxx quattro
Send the quantity and whether you need the standard helmet or the PAPR version. Seven Star LLC serves industrial customers in Oman and the GCC and replies with a quotation based on the information provided.
Choosing the shade level
The correct shade depends on the process and the current. A higher current needs a darker shade. Low-current TIG needs a lighter shade and a more sensitive setting.
Delay after the arc stops
A short delay suits tack welding, where the welder moves quickly from one tack to the next. A longer delay is useful after high-current welds, when the weld pool stays bright.
Spare parts and consumables
Plan spare cover lenses and spare batteries for each shift, and replace damaged parts before using the helmet again.

About brand
Welders usually know Optrel by the view through the lens. The Swiss company, founded in 1986 and based in Wattwil, makes auto-darkening welding helmets, grinding helmets and powered air respirators. Seven Star LLC lists the Optrel crystal2.0, e684, panoramaxx clt and panoramaxx 2.5 helmets and supplies them, with their spare lenses and headgear, to fabricators and contractors in Oman and the GCC.
Optrel welding helmets listed here
The crystal2.0 and the panoramaxx clt use Optrel's Crystal Lens Technology, which gives a very light, clear view at shade level 2.0 before the arc strikes. The panoramaxx helmets have a nose cut-out that brings the lens closer to the eyes and widens the field of view; the panoramaxx 2.5 has a light state of shade level 2.5. The e684 adjusts its shade level automatically to the arc. For fume protection Optrel pairs helmets with its e3000X and swiss air respiratory systems.
Where Optrel helmets are used
Fabrication shops, pipe spools, tank and structural work and site maintenance, on TIG, MIG/MAG and stick welding.
Ordering Optrel helmets and spares: what we need
State the helmet model and color, with or without respirator connection, and any hard hat adapter. For spares, give the model and say front cover lens, inside cover lens, sweatband or headgear.
