Description
A small 180 A water-cooled TIG torch for tight joints
The CK Worldwide CK24W is a water-cooled TIG torch rated at 180 A, ACHF or DCSP, at 100% duty cycle. CK lists it as the same torch as the CK180. It uses the small 8 Series consumables, which keeps the head short and narrow, so it reaches into corners, small-bore tube and fillet joints that a 2 Series or 3 Series head cannot get close to, while the water cooling keeps the handle cool on long runs.
The body is rigid, with or without a gas valve, and CK offers extended necks and two low-profile package styles for very restricted access.

Extended necks, Ozmo and cut-down versions
The extra-length series moves the head away from the handle for deep joints, inside vessels or behind flanges. Cable lengths are 12.5 ft (3.8 m) or 25 ft (7.6 m). For the opposite problem, where there is no room above the joint, CK offers two 180 A low-profile packages on Super-Flex hoses. The Ozmo package uses kit KIT-OZMO (heatshield, two gas lenses, two collets, two alumina cups and five 3/32 in tungstens); the cut-down package uses KIT-CD with the same content in cut-down form. Both kits also fit the CK24, CK80, CK90 and CK180.
Selecting between the CK24W and other CK torches
For work below about 80 to 90 A, the gas-cooled CK24 uses the same 8 Series parts without needing a cooler. Above 180 A a 2 Series water-cooled torch such as the 250 A CK20 is the next step, at the cost of a larger head. Because the CK24W is water-cooled, the hoses must be connected to a recirculating cooler; the machine ends of the power cable and water hose are 7/8 in-14 LH.
Gas lens parts for the 8 Series, such as 8CG collets and 8GHS heatshields, are listed in the same manual and help where a longer tungsten stick-out and smoother gas coverage are needed, for example on stainless root runs.
