Measurement Principle
The Durco Microfinish features a super-smooth-finish ball for low torque and long seat life, with CF8M/316SS standard for both carbon steel and stainless steel valve variants. A minimum body cavity enhances performance across many services by minimizing media retention and process contamination, while a large-diameter, 316SS blowout-proof stem is standard on both carbon steel and stainless steel valves.
In comparative ball valve testing, Durco Microfinish valves maintained stem seal integrity without packing adjustment after 100,000 cycles—up to five times more cycles than the best competitive valve could achieve. The PTFE cup and cone packing system, combined with Belleville washers that maintain constant load and a glass-filled PTFE thrust washer, delivers positive stem sealing even after extensive cyclic operation.

An optional fire-sealed design meets API 607, Fourth Edition criteria, with a metal seat at the port opening providing line seal in the event the PTFE seat burns away in a fire, and the stem moving upward to make a metal-to-metal seal. The valve carries a universal ISO 5211 mounting flange for easy, low-cost actuation, along with anti-static elements continuously grounding the ball, stem, and body to eliminate static discharge. Seat material options include Durlon II (standard for higher pressure/temperature), virgin PTFE, carbon reinforced PTFE, or glass reinforced PTFE.
