Sauter VKAI032F300 DN32 Cut-Off Ball Valve Rp 1-1/4 PN40

The VKAI032F300 is a DN 32 two-way cut-off ball valve from Sauter with a Rp 1¼ female thread and a nominal pressure of 40 bar. It is a quarter-turn on/off valve for heating, ventilation and air-conditioning circuits, paired with Sauter rotary actuators, and it combines a very low leakage rate with a compact brass body weighing 700 g.

A tight shut-off valve for two-position duty

Where a coil, zone or heat-pump loop only has to be fully open or fully closed, a ball valve costs less space and torque than a globe valve. Sauter positions the VKAI as both a cut-off device and a control unit for 2-point control. The ball is chrome-plated and polished DZR brass, seated on PTFE collars that are backed by EPDM O-rings; the datasheet explains that these O-rings let the ball and collars move slightly in the axial direction, giving tightness with small torque. The stated leakage rate is 0.0001 times the Kvs value, and with the AKM115SF152 actuator the valve can cut off in six seconds.

Selection and ordering guide

Order codes combine VKAI, the nominal size and F300. Other sizes are separate orders.

For DN 32 the datasheet gives Δpmax of 1.8 bar with the AKM105 (4 Nm), 3.5 bar with the AKM115 family (8 Nm; AKM115SF152 7 Nm), and 3.5 bar Δpmax with Δps 5.4 bar using the spring-return AKF112 and AKF113 (7 Nm). Spring-return versions give a defined position on power failure. The values apply with Sauter actuators only.

Installation and operation notes

• The actuator mounts directly with a bayonet connector; on commissioning a SUT actuator drives to the end position, joins the spindle automatically and learns the rotation angle.
• To keep the ball from sticking, a SUT actuator makes an approx. 30° movement when the positioning signal has not changed for three days.
• Use in closed circuits only; high oxygen content can destroy the ball valve in open circuits. Water quality to VDI 2035, glycol 20 % to 50 %.
• Fit dirt filters, for example one per floor or pipe run, to protect the PTFE collar.
• Fit in any position but not hanging; keep condensate and drips out of the actuator; leave the actuator flange uninsulated.
• A hand crank on the AKM actuators engages when the manual knob is pushed down.

Applications in Gulf building services

Ball valves with a 40 bar rating are widely used in GCC chilled-water and heating-water plant for isolating fan-coil banks, AHU coils and heat-pump or chiller branches where a binary decision is enough. The brass-and-PTFE construction suits treated closed-loop water, and the 130 °C limit covers hot-water service. Because condensation is not permitted on the valve, insulate pipework and keep the actuator in a ventilated, dry location.

Selection and installation notes

A ball valve is selected from the nominal size, the thread type, the pressure rating and the medium temperature. Check the actuator compatibility, fit the valve with the flow direction and the orientation shown in the instructions, flush the pipework before installation and use suitable thread sealant. Test the shut-off after commissioning.
