EBRO V-3MH 3-Piece Stainless Steel Ball Valve

A full-port stainless steel ball valve that opens up for in-line service

The V-3MH is EBRO ARMATUREN’s three-piece ball valve with a stainless steel body, a full-port ball and a top flange to EN ISO 5211. The data sheet positions it for safe isolation of pure, neutral or aggressive liquids, gases and vapors, in sizes from DN 8 to DN 100 (NPS 1/4 to 4). Because the body is a swing-out three-piece design, the centre section can be taken out for servicing while the two end connections remain welded or screwed into the pipeline.

That matters on plants where a seat or packing change would otherwise mean cutting pipe. The same valve is offered with a handlever that has an operating lock as standard, and the ISO 5211 flange lets an electric or pneumatic part-turn actuator be mounted directly, so one body style covers manual and automated isolation points.

Technical specifications

The pressure and temperature diagram in the data sheet shows the standard version only. EBRO states that valves for higher pressure or a deviating temperature are available on request, so a duty outside the printed envelope should be confirmed with the manufacturer before ordering.

Sizes, flange codes and breakaway torque

The dimension table lists the valve by DN and NPS together with the bore, the lengths and heights lettered L, E and H on the drawing, and the ISO 5211 flange code. Torque values are measured at ambient temperature without pressure load, which makes them a starting point for actuator sizing rather than a final figure.

One derived observation: the flange pair steps from F03/F04 at DN 8 to F10/F12 at DN 100, so an actuator needs a matching flange or an adapter. Port sizes follow the datasheet column as printed (for example 38 mm at DN 40).

Choosing end connections and operation

Threaded ends to ISO 228 suit instrument and utility lines where the valve may be unscrewed, while butt weld ends to ASME B16.25 give a permanent joint that still lets the centre body be swung out. The datasheet does not give a part-number code, so the end connection, handle or actuator arrangement and any pressure relief option should be written into the enquiry together with the DN.

For automation, note that the 63 bar rating applies up to DN 50 and drops to 40 bar from DN 65. Because the printed torque rises from 5 Nm to 123 Nm across the range, EBRO’s own MS3 electric control drive uses the same EN ISO 5211 interface standard in its data sheet, but the drive torque and flange must be checked against the figures above for each size.

Applications in industry

EBRO lists general services for fluids and gases, cooling water, process water and potable water, flushing and drainage, acids and alkalis, water technology, pulp and paper, food and beverage, chemical and petrochemical plants, automotive and biogas or biomethane. In a hot, dusty or salt-laden environment the stainless steel body and Viton O-ring are relevant, but material compatibility with the actual medium still has to be checked; the data sheet lists no approvals for this valve, so none are claimed here.

Valve quotations depend on the service conditions as much as on the size. For the EBRO V-3MH 3-Piece Stainless Steel Ball Valve, list the nominal size, pressure class, end connection or flange standard, and the medium with its temperature and pressure range. State the required body, seat and seal materials if a specification already exists.

• Quantity and tag numbers, if the valves belong to a project line list.
