Valtek Mark One Globe Control Valve

Description

Overview

The Valtek Mark One globe control valve offers superior performance in liquid and gaseous services, while also permitting easy, fast, and inexpensive maintenance. The spring-cylinder actuated Mark One valve provides stiffness and maintains high positioning accuracy, repeatability, controlled high speed, and faithful response, making it the industry choice for a simple, reliable, tough globe valve.

As an authorized supplier of Flowserve valve solutions, Seven Star LLC proudly offers the Valtek Mark One to power generation, chemical processing, oil and gas, and general industrial applications across the Sultanate of Oman, Muscat, and the wider GCC. Available in globe, angle, and three-way body styles, it delivers a broad solutions envelope with significant flexibility for a wide range of process control applications.

Measurement Principle

The Mark One valve handles up to 150 psig (10.3 barg) supply air and has the thrust to shut off against much higher fluid pressures. It is designed so that the spring, supply air pressure, and fluid pressure itself combine to produce an exceptionally tight shutoff, with a self-aligning seat ring further enhancing shutoff capability.

The Mark One valve is typically double top-stem guided and completely avoids contact between the plug and seat retainer—many globe valve maintenance problems can be traced to cage-guiding, where close metal-to-metal contact between the cage and plug often results in galling and sticking. Globe-style bodies feature smooth, streamlined, constant-area internal passages with no pockets, permitting high capacity with minimum turbulence, while nearly constant wall thickness provides lower weight and cost when manufactured in expensive stainless or alloy steels.

Engineering Design of the Valtek Mark One

The Mark One is available in size ranges from 0.5 to 36 inches and pressure classes from 150 to 4500, with seating materials including 300 series and 400 series stainless steel, Alloy 6 and 21 overlay, Monel, Hastelloy, Inconel, PTFE soft seat, and other special alloys. The clamped-in seat and top-entry trim permit easy, quick maintenance, and with the Mark One valve’s high degree of parts interchangeability, fewer inventory parts are required across the range.

The cylinder actuator is lighter, smaller, and easier to handle than comparable diaphragm actuators, while severe service trim options such as MegaStream and Stealth address noise abatement, and CavControl, ChannelStream, DiamondBack, and SideWinder address cavitation control. The valve is compatible with Logix digital positioners for advanced digital control and diagnostics, and can be configured for globe, angle, or three-way (combining/diverting) service.

Key Features

The Valtek Mark One combines a proven cylinder-actuated globe design with extensive configurability. Core capabilities include:

  • Small, compact, lightweight body and actuator package.
  • Stiff, high-thrust cylinder actuator for position accuracy, repeatability, and assured response.
  • Size range 0.5 to 36 inches; pressure class 150 to 4500.
  • Double top-stem guided design eliminates cage-guiding galling and sticking issues.
  • Clamped-in seat and top-entry trim for fast, inexpensive maintenance.
  • Severe service options for noise abatement (MegaStream, Stealth) and cavitation control (DiamondBack, SideWinder).
  • SIL certified with ATEX, IECEx, CRN, and CE approvals.
  • Compatible with Logix digital positioners for advanced control.

Industrial Applications

The Valtek Mark One is well suited to power generation, chemical processing, oil and gas, and general industrial facilities across Oman requiring reliable, high-accuracy control of liquid and gaseous process streams. Its broad configuration options and severe-service trims make it dependable for demanding applications including nuclear, combined cycle, and concentrated solar power installations throughout the region.
