Description
MP54: a differential pressure switch with 60 s relay for compressor oil pressure
The 060B016766 is a Danfoss MP54 differential pressure switch with a thermal time relay (relay release 60 s) and a manual reset on the minimum side. It cuts out when the differential pressure falls, which is the classic oil-pressure protection for refrigeration compressors. The low-pressure side operates over -1 to 12 bar (-15 to 175 psig), the fixed differential is 0.9 bar (13 psi) and the contact differential is 0.2 bar.
The contact is SPDT rated AC15 2 A 250 V and DC13 0.2 A 250 V to EN 60947-5, the enclosure is IP20, the electrical connection is a screwed cable entry Pg 13.5 and the pressure connection is 1/4 in male flare to DIN 8906. Maximum working pressure is 17 bar and the test pressure is 22 bar.

Oil pressure protection and the time delay
When a compressor starts, the oil pressure needs a moment to build, so the MP54 contains a thermal time relay that waits 60 s before it cuts out if the differential does not reach the set value. If the oil pump fails or the filter blocks, the contact opens and stops the compressor; the manual reset forces an operator to look at the cause.
The page lists a long refrigerant range (including R134a, R22, R404A, R407A and R407C) and approvals CCC, CE, CMIM, EAC, GL, LVD, RoHS, TYSK and UKCA. GL (Germanischer Lloyd) approval matters on marine and offshore installations.
Wiring and ordering notes
Connect the LP and oil-pump sides with the capillaries or tubes to the matching connections: the high side is the oil pump outlet and the low side the crankcase. Wire conductors up to 1.5 mm2 as given in the EN 60947 wiring properties. The ambient range is -40 to 60 C.
Check the model: MP54, MP55 and MP55A share a data sheet but differ in the relay time and the reset. This MP54 is the manual-reset version with the 60 s relay. Confirm the supply voltage of the relay and the refrigerant before ordering.

Choosing Danfoss products
For solenoid valves, check the operating principle. A direct-operated valve such as EV210B opens even at 0 bar differential pressure. A servo-operated valve such as EV220B needs a minimum differential (typically about 0.3 bar) to open, while an assisted-lift valve such as EV250B works from 0 bar. Coils are ordered separately, so the voltage on the coil (for example 230 V AC or 24 V DC) must match the control circuit. For drives, the VLT family is split by application: FC 51 Micro Drive for small machines, FC 102 HVAC Drive for fans and pumps in buildings, FC 202 AQUA Drive for water, and FC 302 AutomationDrive for demanding industrial duty.
