Cougartron Fury200 Heavy Duty Weld Cleaning Machine
Overview
The Cougartron Fury200 is the flagship of the Cougartron Heavy Duty Range and, in the manufacturer’s own words, the king of its weld-cleaning line-up. It delivers up to 200 amperes of adjustable current for removing heat tint and discoloration from stainless steel welds, and it was designed for the toughest industrial duty: heavy-gauge TIG seams, MIG welds on thicker sections, large tanks, pressure vessels and long runs of process pipe. Beyond cleaning, the same unit offers a polishing mode for a brighter cosmetic finish and a low-current marking mode for etching logos, heat numbers or part identification onto metal.
Seven Star LLC supplies the Cougartron Fury200 to stainless fabricators, piping contractors and plant maintenance departments in the Sultanate of Oman and across the GCC, with engineering support in Muscat. Our team helps buyers choose the right purchase set, plan fluid consumption for a project and select brush wands for the joint geometry they actually weld, whether the work is in a Sohar fabrication shop, a desalination plant extension or a food-grade installation near Salalah.
How Electrochemical Weld Cleaning Works
As general background, welding stainless steel leaves a coloured oxide band, often called heat tint, on and beside the bead. That band is depleted in chromium, so it is the area where corrosion usually starts. The traditional remedy is pickling paste based on strong acids, which works but needs long dwell times, generates hazardous rinse water and requires careful handling. Electrochemical cleaning takes a different route. The machine passes a low-voltage current through a conductive carbon-fibre brush that is wetted with a cleaning fluid; where the brush touches the weld, the discoloured oxide is dissolved in seconds and the surface is left ready to re-form its passive chromium oxide film.
The Cougartron Fury200 uses alternating current between 10 and 16 volts for cleaning, which is the mode used on welds to remove heat tint. Switching to polishing changes the output to direct current between 10 and 12 volts, which brightens the surface for visible areas. A separate marking mode uses 2 to 10 amperes at 12 V AC so that a stencil can be used to etch or mark text. After cleaning, general good practice is to neutralise and wipe the surface; Cougartron includes its CGT-N5 neutralising fluid in the starter sets for exactly that step.
Engineering Design of the Cougartron Fury200
The Cougartron Fury200 body is a tough, robust case mounted on large-diameter rubber wheels, with a collapsible steel handle so one person can pull it across a workshop floor or along a pipe rack. The handle is detachable. With the handle down, the machine unit measures 15 by 13 by 25 inches; with the handle extended the height rises to 46 inches. The enclosure is rated IP51, and the manufacturer lists CE, UL and CSA certification for the unit.
Power reaches the Cougartron Fury200 through a 12 ft input cable from a 230 V AC, 50/60 Hz single-phase supply drawing 10 A. On the output side the standard 20 ft work and ground cables use 2 AWG conductor and DINSE connectors rated at 200 A, giving the welder plenty of reach around large workpieces. The control panel carries a power switch, a clean/mark selector, a polish/etch selector, a power control and a digital display. Brush wands with twist shrouds are available for one, two or three M8 brushes, and the datasheet lists brush holder options from one up to four, so wider areas can be covered in a single pass.
Key Features
The points below summarise why the Cougartron Fury200 is chosen for heavy, continuous weld cleaning work:
- Cleaning and polishing current is adjustable from 20 to 200 A in 20 A increments, the highest output in the Cougartron range.
- Both amperage and voltage can be adjusted, letting the operator tune the result for light TIG tint or heavier MIG discoloration.
- A 100% duty cycle lets the Cougartron Fury200 run through long cleaning sessions on tanks, vessels and pipe spools without forced cooling breaks.
- Marking mode at 2 to 10 A in 2 A steps supports permanent identification marks with the standard or advanced marking sets.
- Large rubber wheels and a collapsible steel handle make the machine easy to move around a site or between workshop bays.
- Standard 20 ft output cables of 2 AWG section reach around large assemblies without moving the machine.
- Multi-brush wands for up to three M8 brushes speed up cleaning of wide welds and larger surface areas.
- The IP51 enclosure and CE, UL and CSA marks reflect a machine built for industrial environments.
Industrial Applications
In Oman, the Cougartron Fury200 fits stainless steel work where both throughput and appearance matter. Fabricators of storage tanks, process vessels and skid-mounted packages for oil and gas, water treatment and desalination projects can clean long circumferential and longitudinal seams quickly. Its ability to handle MIG seams on heavier gauge material makes it useful for structural stainless, handrails and architectural work in Muscat, where visible welds must look uniform. Polishing mode on the Cougartron Fury200 helps food, dairy and beverage equipment builders deliver a bright, hygienic finish on visible surfaces.
Maintenance teams at refineries, power stations and pharmaceutical facilities also use a Cougartron Fury200 to treat repair welds in place, avoiding the logistics of pickling paste and acid rinsing in an operating plant. Seven Star LLC supplies the complete Cougartron Fury200 set, cleaning and neutralising fluids, brushes, wands and marking kits, and coordinates delivery to sites in Muscat, Sohar, Duqm and the wider GCC.
