Banner RSr-L-SIL-8A-Q Remote Safety Relay, Latched
Description
An IP65/IP67 on-machine safety relay that turns OSSD outputs into 8 A contacts
The RSr-L-SIL-8A-Q is the latched version of Banner Engineering’s Remote Safety Relay (RSr). The RSr converts the low-current 24 V DC output signal switching device (OSSD) outputs of a safety device into high-current, pulse-free 24 V DC outputs with two 8-amp relay outputs, so that contactors, valves or drives can be switched directly. It is designed for use with Banner’s Remote Safety I/O block or any other OSSD output device.
Each unit is sealed in an industrial hardened housing and contains relays and internal monitoring circuits. The unit mounts directly on a machine, without a control cabinet, which allows OEMs and users to reduce installation and operating costs; the manual names packaging, material handling and automotive lines as typical uses.

Latched versus trip operation
The model key’s L-code distinguishes two behaviours. In the SIL version, the output relays latch after a safety input drops out and are re-armed by a pulse on the reset input carried on the aux wire; the manual shows an example with a string of E-stops having OSSD outputs and the reset on pin 4. The SIT version instead provides a trip output on the aux wire to tell the controller that the relay has tripped.
Application and ordering notes
Typical use is to expand the output capacity of a distributed safety system at a motor, valve bank or robot cell located far from the control cabinet. Transient suppression is recommended across inductive loads, never across the output contacts. Supply wiring leads smaller than 24 AWG must not be spliced and the unit needs an overcurrent device sized for the supply wire.
The manual warns that design and installation of the safety devices affect the level of circuit integrity and that a risk assessment per ISO 13849-1 must determine the required category. Please confirm latch or trip behaviour, supply and connector needs before ordering.

About brand
Banner Engineering is the American maker of industrial sensors, indicator lights, wireless monitoring and machine safety products. Bob Fayfield founded it in 1966 as a small engineering firm in the Minneapolis area. The company is privately held and still based in Minnesota.
Seven Star LLC lists Banner devices including the Q4X rugged stainless steel laser distance sensor and the K50 Pro Beacon IO-Link multicolor RGB indicator, and supplies Banner sensors and indicators to plants and machine builders in Oman.

Banner Q4X and K50 Pro
Banner offers the Q4X in four range versions, all starting at 25 mm: Q4X100 to 100 mm, Q4X300 to 300 mm, Q4X500 to 500 mm and Q4X600 to 600 mm. The series is available with discrete, analog and IO-Link outputs and has a display on the sensor. The K50 Pro Beacon is a status indicator whose color and behavior are set from the controller over IO-Link.

Ordering Banner products: what we need
Send the complete Banner model number from the device label, because range, output type and connector are all coded into it. For the Q4X, state the measuring distance, the output your PLC input needs and the connector or cable style. For indicators, give the housing size, control method and voltage. Mating cordsets and brackets can be included for GCC orders.
