Banner EZ-SCREEN LS Type 4 Safety Light Curtain
Description
The Banner EZ-SCREEN LS is a Type 4 safety light curtain that guards the open sides of presses, robot cells, assembly and packaging machines, palletisers and automated production lines. A row of synchronised infrared LEDs in the emitter and matching photodetectors in the receiver create a defined area; when any part of an operator interrupts it, both safety outputs switch off and the machine stops.
The end-to-end sensing design leaves no blind zone at either end of the housing, and the compact metal housing runs from 280 mm to 2380 mm. Seven Star LLC, an independent supplier in Muscat, quotes EZ-SCREEN LS by full model code against the Banner product manual.

Reading the model key
The manual builds the model number as SLL (product family), an optional C for cascadable, E, R or P for emitter, receiver or pair, a resolution of 14, 23 or 40, a dash and the defined area in millimetres, then a termination code. Blank termination means no pigtail with an RD connection for middle or end units in a cascade; P5 or P55 add a 300 mm pigtail with a 5-pin M12 connector (individual or paired); P8 or P88 add an 8-pin M12 pigtail; and -S means no brackets. For example SLLP14-280 is a 14 mm resolution pair with a 280 mm defined area, and SLLE14-280 is the emitter alone.
Choosing resolution and connection style
The resolution decides the smallest object the curtain detects: finer resolution (14 mm) is typically chosen where fingers or hands can reach the hazard, coarser resolution (23 mm or 40 mm) where only a hand, arm or body can enter. Longer curtains and finer resolution add response time, so check your machine stopping time and compute the safety distance from the formula in the manual. Eight-conductor receivers support external device monitoring and do not need a separate controller; they meet control reliability and ISO 13849-1 Category 3 or 4 PL d or e with EDM. Five-conductor versions must be connected to a self-checking safety module, safety controller or safety PLC, such as the Banner UM-FA, SC10-2 or XS/SC26-2 families named in the manual.
Installation and what to confirm
Mount the emitter and receiver facing each other with brackets supplied in the standard models; models over 910 mm include a centre bracket and 1890 mm and longer need at least two. Mirrors and lens shields reduce range. The manual states the curtain is for machinery that can stop immediately after a stop signal and must not be used on full-revolution clutched machines. Browse the safety switches and guard locking category for related safety devices. Please confirm before ordering: resolution, defined area, 5-pin or 8-pin connection, cascade need, cordset length and the safety controller or relay.
How the Banner EZ-SCREEN LS works
The emitter sends a row of infrared beams to the receiver. The receiver checks that every beam arrives. When an object blocks any beam, both safety outputs switch off and the machine stops.

About brand
Banner Engineering, founded in 1966 in Minneapolis, USA, makes industrial sensors, indicator lights and machine safety products that show up on packaging lines and conveyors everywhere. Seven Star LLC lists Banner devices including the Q4X rugged stainless steel laser distance sensor and the K50 Pro Beacon IO-Link multicolor RGB indicator, and supplies Banner sensors and indicators to plants and machine builders in Oman.
Banner Q4X and K50 Pro
Banner offers the Q4X in four range versions, all starting at 25 mm: Q4X100 to 100 mm, Q4X300 to 300 mm, Q4X500 to 500 mm and Q4X600 to 600 mm. The series is available with discrete, analog and IO-Link outputs and has a display on the sensor. The K50 Pro Beacon is a status indicator whose color and behavior are set from the controller over IO-Link.
Ordering Banner products: what we need
Send the complete Banner model number from the device label, because range, output type and connector are all coded into it. For the Q4X, state the measuring distance, the output your PLC input needs and the connector or cable style. For indicators, give the housing size, control method and voltage. Mating cordsets and brackets can be included for GCC orders.
