Banner QS30ARXH2OQ5 Water Sensor Receiver, High Gain
Description
A 1450 nm infrared receiver that sees water and clear liquids
The QS30ARXH2OQ5 is the high-gain, light-operate receiver of Banner Engineering’s QS30H2O water sensor series. The series works with 1450 nm infrared light, a wavelength that water absorbs strongly, so an opposed emitter and receiver pair can detect water, and aqueous liquids and wet films, that conventional red-light sensors ignore. This receiver pairs with the high-gain QS30EXH2O emitter (a standard emitter will only work with a standard receiver).
It has a bipolar output (NPN on the white wire, PNP on the black wire), a 4 m sensing range with its emitter, and a 150 mm pigtail ending in a 5-pin M12 quick-disconnect. The housing is leakproof, rated IEC IP67 (NEMA 6) and PW12 washdown at 1200 psi.

How a water sensor differs from a normal opposed sensor
Water appears dark to 1450 nm light, so the receiver sees a drop in signal when water passes between it and the emitter. Typical uses are detecting liquid in a stream, a bottle fill, coolant flow, or the presence of water in a sump or drain. Banner publishes the series with standard, high-gain and super-high-power versions: the standard receivers reach 2 m, the high-gain ones 4 m, and the super-high-power pair (13 mm beam) 8 m.
The datasheet lists several receiver choices: QS30ARH2O and QS30RRH2O for light or dark operate at 2 m, QS30ARXH2OQ5 and QS30RRXH2O at 4 m, and QS30RXH2OUQ5 with a 0-10 V analog output needing 15-30 V DC.
Wiring and ordering
A five-wire interface carries the supply, the two outputs, and the frequency-select pair so that neighbouring pairs can be separated. The emitter has an LED inhibit input on the white wire that switches the emitter off so that receiver operation can be verified. Models with a quick-disconnect need a mating five-pin M12 cordset from the accessories chapter.
Standard emitters only operate with standard receivers, and super-high-power emitters only with super-high-power receivers, so always order matching pairs and confirm range, gain and operate mode before purchasing.

About brand
Banner Engineering is the American maker of industrial sensors, indicator lights, wireless monitoring and machine safety products. Bob Fayfield founded it in 1966 as a small engineering firm in the Minneapolis area. The company is privately held and still based in Minnesota.
Seven Star LLC lists Banner devices including the Q4X rugged stainless steel laser distance sensor and the K50 Pro Beacon IO-Link multicolor RGB indicator, and supplies Banner sensors and indicators to plants and machine builders in Oman.

Banner Q4X and K50 Pro
Banner offers the Q4X in four range versions, all starting at 25 mm: Q4X100 to 100 mm, Q4X300 to 300 mm, Q4X500 to 500 mm and Q4X600 to 600 mm. The series is available with discrete, analog and IO-Link outputs and has a display on the sensor. The K50 Pro Beacon is a status indicator whose color and behavior are set from the controller over IO-Link.

Ordering Banner products: what we need
Send the complete Banner model number from the device label, because range, output type and connector are all coded into it. For the Q4X, state the measuring distance, the output your PLC input needs and the connector or cable style. For indicators, give the housing size, control method and voltage. Mating cordsets and brackets can be included for GCC orders.

FAQ
Questions about the Banner QS30ARXH2OQ5 Water Sensor Receiver, High Gain
Answers from our engineering team on installation, compatibility and integration.
01What does the H2O in the model name mean?
The series uses 1450 nm infrared light that water absorbs, so the sensor detects water and many water-based liquids.
02Which emitter should be paired with QS30ARXH2OQ5?
The high-gain QS30EXH2O. The datasheet says standard emitters work only with standard receivers and super-high-power emitters only with super-high-power receivers.
03What is the output of this receiver?
A bipolar pair: NPN on the white wire and PNP on the black wire, rated 100 mA maximum.
04Is the sensor washdown rated?
Yes, IEC IP67 (NEMA 6) with PW12 washdown at 1200 psi per NEMA PW12.
05What range does the high-gain version cover?
4 m (13 ft); standard models cover 2 m and super high-power models 8 m.
