On the interface side there are two systems. The K-System mounts on DIN rail and is represented here by the KFD2-UT2-Ex2 universal temperature converter. Both are isolated barrier families for intrinsically safe signals. K-System modules such as the KFD2 types clip onto DIN rail and are wired individually, often with a power rail. H-System modules such as the HiD2030 plug into termination boards that carry the system cable to the control system. The two formats are not interchangeable, so match what is already in the cabinet.
How do I read a model code such as KFD2-UT2-Ex2?
The first block identifies the housing and supply type, the middle block the function (UT2 is the universal temperature converter) and the Ex suffix shows an intrinsically safe version with its channel count. Suffixes after that select variants. Copy the whole designation from the front label, since near-identical codes exist for non-Ex and single-channel versions.
What does SN mean on the NJ2-12GK-SN sensor?
NJ2-12GK-SN is a NAMUR inductive sensor in a 12 mm threaded housing with a 2 mm sensing distance, and SN marks the manufacturer's safety-function sensor design. It must be paired with a suitable NAMUR isolating switch amplifier. If it is part of a safety loop, check the functional safety data in the manufacturer's documentation for both devices.
