Brand:

Apollo SA5100-700 Soteria Optical Heat Multisensor Detector

Description

An addressable multisensor detector with five selectable response modes

The Apollo SA5100-700 is the Soteria optical/heat multisensor detector for addressable fire alarm loops. It uses PureLight optical sensing to detect smoke particles in the chamber and is fitted with two thermistors for heat, so one head can be configured at the fire panel as a smoke detector, a heat detector or a combination. Apollo cites the 5 response modes, drift compensation, FasTest quicker testing and an integrated, switchable short-circuit isolator, and lists a 10-year warranty on the product page.

It communicates with the digital CoreProtocol and stays backward compatible with XP95 and Discovery loops, so Soteria heads and bases can be mixed into existing Apollo systems. The data sheet notes that not all Soteria features are available when used with XP95 or Discovery panels, and that drift compensation in XP95 panels must be disabled with Soteria devices.

Response modes

Mode Optical response value (oil mist, EN 54-7) Heat sensor response Minimum time to alarm
1 0.10 dB/m Over 15 degC rise 20 s
2 0.15 dB/m – 30 s
3 0.18 dB/m Over 21 degC rise 20 s
4 0.25 dB/m Over 15 degC rise 20 s
5 – A1R heat response, fixed 57 degC threshold plus rate of rise 20 s

In modes 1, 3 and 4 the detector uses only rate-of-rise information with the optical signal, so it does not respond to a slow temperature increase, and a large sudden temperature change can alarm without smoke. Mode 5 has no smoke sensitivity and gives a pure heat response meeting Category A1R of EN 54-5.

What to confirm before ordering

Confirm the fire panel and loop protocol (CoreProtocol, Discovery or XP95), the base (the data sheet shows the XPERT 8 intelligent mounting base, and XPERT 7 for XP95 and Discovery bases), whether white or black is required, and the approvals the project calls for. Other Apollo detectors on this site include the Apollo 55000-600 XP95 optical smoke detector; see also fire and gas detection.

About brand

Apollo devices are used to build addressable fire alarm loops. Apollo, founded in 1980 and based in Havant, United Kingdom, makes fire detectors and the loop devices that work with them. Seven Star LLC, an independent supplier in Muscat, lists Apollo fire detection devices for fire alarm contractors and maintenance teams in Oman and the GCC, currently the XP95 Sounder Control Unit.

Apollo XP95 loop devices

XP95 is the Apollo range of analogue addressable detectors and interfaces. Besides detectors, it includes modules that link the loop to other equipment. The Sounder Control Unit on our site is one of these: it lets the control panel switch and supervise a circuit of conventional sounders fed from an external power supply.

Ordering Apollo devices: what we need

Apollo identifies each device by a part number in the form 55000-000, for example 55000-182 for a DIN-rail sounder control unit. Send that number, the range name printed on the device, the quantity, and the make and model of your control panel. For detectors, state whether mounting bases are needed and which type.

Frequently Asked Questions

What does the SA5100-700 detect?
Smoke by photo-electric light scattering and heat by dual thermistors, combined according to the selected response mode.
Which protocols does it use?
CoreProtocol, with backward compatibility to Discovery and XP95 loops (excluding Mode 5).
Does it include a short-circuit isolator?
Yes, the SA5100-700 is the isolated version with an integrated switchable isolator.
What is the operating temperature range?
