Apollo 55000-440APO XP95 I.S. Heat Detector
Description
An intrinsically safe heat detector for dirty or smoky areas
The Apollo 55000-440APO is the XP95 Intrinsically Safe (I.S.) heat detector. A single NTC thermistor gives a count output proportional to the external air temperature, linear over 25 C to 90 C. It is ideal for environments that are dirty or smoky under normal circumstances, and it is unaffected by wind or atmospheric pressure.
It shares the common profile of the XP95 I.S. optical smoke detector but has a low air-flow-resistance white polycarbonate case. It connects to a two-wire, polarity-sensitive loop of 14 V to 22 V dc and uses the XP95 native protocol, Discovery compatible.

Loop loading and remote indication
A safety barrier is mandatory in an I.S. system, and its high series impedance limits how many I.S. detectors can be fitted. Apollo gives a typical maximum of 20 detectors per I.S. circuit, restricted to 12 optical detectors in an IIC environment, depending on barrier type, devices fitted and the number of detector LEDs the panel illuminates at once.
The detector supplies a remote LED drive point. The remote LED must be a standard high-efficiency red LED and needs no series resistor because current is limited to about 500 microamps. It cannot be controlled independently of the integral LED. The Apollo MiniDisc Remote Indicator 53832-070 is suitable using terminals X and Y.
Selection and what to confirm before ordering
Choose a heat detector where smoke detectors would be unreliable because of normal smoke, dust or steam. The datasheet provides temperature-proportional counts only, so alarm thresholds are set by the control panel. Confirm the mounting base, the I.S. barrier and panel compatibility, and the zone, gas group and temperature class of the installation, because the T4 and T5 ratings carry different ambient limits. A SIL 2 variant (55000-440SIL) is listed separately by the manufacturer, so quote the exact suffix.
The manufacturer specification states that the EMC Directive conformity does not cover connected apparatus. For general-area use see the Apollo 55000-600 XP95 optical smoke detector in the same XP95 family.

About brand
Apollo devices are used to build addressable fire alarm loops. Apollo, founded in 1980 and based in Havant, United Kingdom, makes fire detectors and the loop devices that work with them. Seven Star LLC, an independent supplier in Muscat, lists Apollo fire detection devices for fire alarm contractors and maintenance teams in Oman and the GCC, currently the XP95 Sounder Control Unit.
Apollo XP95 loop devices
XP95 is the Apollo range of analogue addressable detectors and interfaces. Besides detectors, it includes modules that link the loop to other equipment. The Sounder Control Unit on our site is one of these: it lets the control panel switch and supervise a circuit of conventional sounders fed from an external power supply.
Ordering Apollo devices: what we need
Apollo identifies each device by a part number in the form 55000-000, for example 55000-182 for a DIN-rail sounder control unit. Send that number, the range name printed on the device, the quantity, and the make and model of your control panel. For detectors, state whether mounting bases are needed and which type.
