Measurement data of the METSEPM1200
Network frequency: 50/60 Hz. Communication protocols: Modbus 19.2 kbauds. Display: LED. Resolution: 3 lines with 4 digits.
The meter measures voltage, current, power and energy. See the datasheet for accuracy and display.
Replacement and network use of the METSEPM1200
Confirm the successor, such as PM2100 or PM5000 series. Communicate via the port to a SCADA or energy system.
The datasheet downloaded for this page carries lifecycle notices: Discontinued on: Jan 23, 2021. For a plant that already runs this reference that makes the METSEPM1200 a spare-and-replacement item, and it is worth fixing the stock level and the long-term successor plan at the same time. We can discuss compatible alternatives once we know the installation.

Typical applications of the METSEPM1200 in Oman and the GCC
In Oman and the GCC panel meters monitor feeders and motors.
Dimensions, environment and approvals of the METSEPM1200
For the METSEPM1200, plan the mounting space from the datasheet: 96 mm (W) x 96 mm (H) x Embedded : 80 mm (D). The METSEPM1200 weighs 0.4 kg. Mounting, derating and enclosure choices follow the environmental data below, which should be compared with the actual panel temperature and the dust and humidity of the site in Oman and the GCC.
Ambient temperature limits in the datasheet: -25 to 70 °C. Relative humidity: 5 to 95 %. Ingress protection: IP51 front face: conforming to IEC 60529; IP40 back: conforming to IEC 60529. Operating altitude: 0 to 2000 m. Standards listed: IEC 62053-21; IEC 62052-11.
Panel power meters are valued for the data they give over years, so the set-up of the METSEPM1200 is important. Enter the CT and VT ratios correctly at commissioning, because an error here multiplies through every reading; check by comparing with a clamp meter. Where energy is used for cost allocation, record the meter serial number and the date of installation so that readings can be traced. The communication port allows the meter to send data to a SCADA or energy-management system; use the register map from the manual to choose the values to collect, such as current, power factor, kWh and demand. As the datasheet shows the reference as discontinued, plan for a successor from the PowerLogic range; the front-panel cut-out and CT connections need to be compared before replacement. Keep a spare if the meter is used for billing. If the meter feeds a building or energy management system, agree on the polling interval and the registers with the system integrator before commissioning; polling too fast can load a serial link, and polling too slowly loses short demand peaks. Keep a table of ratios, wiring mode and communication settings on the cabinet door or in the panel documentation, so a replacement meter can be configured in minutes. Where several feeders are metered, use a consistent naming scheme for the meter addresses.
Information to send with an RFQ for the METSEPM1200

Site conditions in Oman for the METSEPM1200
Electrical rooms and outdoor panels in the Gulf often operate well above the 25 °C reference temperature used in many catalogues. Before you finalise the METSEPM1200, compare the expected panel temperature with the operating range and any output derating stated in the manufacturer documentation, and leave the recommended clearance above and below the device for convection. Supply quality also varies between sites, so confirm the input voltage range, frequency and any requirements for protection on the supply side.
Where the device feeds or monitors critical loads, plan how faults will be signalled to the control system and how a replacement can be installed quickly. Keeping one spare METSEPM1200 per site and recording its settings helps maintenance teams in Oman restore service with minimum downtime.

About brand
Schneider Electric is the French group for energy management and industrial automation: low and medium voltage switchgear and circuit breakers, motor control, drives, PLCs, power monitoring, UPS systems and building management. Its history goes back to 1836, when the brothers Adolphe and Eugène Schneider took over the iron and steel works at Le Creusot in Burgundy. Over the 20th century the company left steel and heavy engineering and became an electrical group through acquisitions such as Merlin Gerin, Télémécanique, Square D and Modicon. Its head office is in Rueil-Malmaison near Paris, and its shares are listed on Euronext Paris.

Milestones
- 1836: The Schneider brothers acquire the Le Creusot works; the business grows in steel, locomotives and heavy engineering.
- 1975: First investment in Merlin Gerin, a French maker of electrical distribution equipment.
- 1988–1992: Télémécanique, Square D (USA) and Merlin Gerin join the group, making it an electrical specialist.
- 1997: Modicon, the company behind the first programmable logic controller, joins the group.
- 1999: The group takes the name Schneider Electric.
- 2007 and 2014: APC (UPS and data centre power) and Invensys (process automation) are acquired.
Choosing Schneider Electric breakers and motor control
Circuit breakers are chosen by current and breaking capacity. Acti9 miniature circuit breakers (iC60, C120) protect final circuits up to 125 A. ComPacT NSX molded case breakers cover about 16 to 630 A, and the letter after the frame size sets the breaking capacity: B, F, N, H, S, L from lowest to highest. MasterPacT air circuit breakers are used as main incomers on large switchboards. For motors, a TeSys contactor with an LRD overload relay or a GV2 motor circuit breaker suits direct starting, an Altistart soft starter reduces starting current, and an Altivar drive controls speed. The breaking capacity must always be at least the prospective short-circuit current at the point of installation.
Where Schneider Electric products are used
In Oman and the GCC, Schneider Electric equipment is found in main and sub-main switchboards of commercial and residential buildings, motor control centres in water, oil and gas and industrial plants, substations protected by Sepam and Easergy relays, data centres powered by Galaxy and APC UPS systems, and buildings controlled by EcoStruxure Building Operation.
APC by Schneider Electric: UPS and critical power
Since 2007, APC has been part of Schneider Electric and is now its product brand for uninterruptible power supplies, replacement batteries, battery packs, network management cards and rack power distribution.
