In industrial plants across the GCC, APC UPS units back up DCS and PLC cabinets, operator stations, SCADA servers, telecom racks, fire and gas panels and analyzer shelters. Online double-conversion models are normally chosen for control systems because the load is always fed through the inverter. Line-interactive units suit office IT and less critical loads.
Ordering APC UPS units and parts: what we need
Send the full SKU, for example SRT3000XLI, and not only the VA rating. The letters carry meaning: an I in the suffix marks a 230 V international model, XL an extended-run version that accepts external battery packs, and RM a rack-mount form. For a new requirement, give load in watts, input and output voltage, required runtime, tower or rack format, and the plug or hardwire arrangement. For batteries, send the UPS SKU and serial number so the correct replacement battery cartridge can be found in APC documentation.

How do I read an APC UPS model number such as SRT5KRMXLI?
The prefix names the family, here Smart-UPS SRT, an online double-conversion series. 5K is the 5000 VA rating, RM indicates a rack-mount configuration, XL means the unit accepts external battery packs for longer runtime, and the final I marks the 230 V international version. Always quote the complete SKU from the rear label, together with the serial number.
What is the difference between Smart-UPS SMT and Smart-UPS SRT models?
SMT units are line-interactive: the load runs from conditioned mains and switches to the inverter when mains fails. SRT units are online double-conversion: the inverter supplies the load continuously, so there is no transfer time and output frequency is regulated. SRT is the usual choice for control systems and sensitive loads, SMT for general IT equipment.
How do I find the correct replacement battery for an APC UPS?
APC assigns a replacement battery cartridge number to each UPS model. It is listed in the manual and on the manufacturer's selector, and sometimes on a label inside the battery door. Send the UPS SKU and serial number and we will confirm the cartridge, or the external battery pack model such as SMX120BP, from APC documentation.
Which network management card fits my APC UPS?
The AP9641 Network Management Card 3 fits APC UPS models that have a SmartSlot, which includes most Smart-UPS and Symmetra units. Some newer UPS models have a network card built in or pre-fitted.
