Schneider Electric EasyLogic PM2120 Power Meter METSEPM2120
Overview
The Schneider Electric PM2120 is a panel-mounted power and energy meter from the EasyLogic PM2100 range, sold under the commercial reference METSEPM2120. It is designed for sub-billing, cost allocation and general power monitoring in low-voltage switchboards, motor control centres and distribution panels. The meter combines Class 1 active and reactive energy accuracy with total harmonic distortion measurement up to the 15th harmonic, a bright red seven-segment LED display and an RS485 port running Modbus RTU, so readings can be taken locally at the panel door or collected remotely by a SCADA, BMS or energy management system.
Seven Star LLC supplies the Schneider Electric PM2120 to utilities, oil and gas facilities, water treatment plants, commercial buildings and industrial plants across Oman and the wider GCC, with engineering support in Muscat. This page summarises the manufacturer data for the METSEPM2120 so that engineers and buyers can confirm suitability before requesting a quotation.

Measurements and Metering Functions
According to the Schneider Electric product data sheet, the Schneider Electric PM2120 measures phase currents I1, I2 and I3 together with the calculated neutral current and current unbalance. Voltage is available both line-to-line (U21, U32, U13) and line-to-neutral (V1, V2, V3), with minimum, maximum and average values. Active power P, reactive power Q and apparent power S are given per phase and as totals, along with power factor and frequency, each with min/max tracking.
Energy registers cover active, reactive and apparent energy in four quadrants, which makes the Schneider Electric PM2120 suitable for feeders where power can flow in either direction, such as incomers with on-site generation. Demand values for power (P, Q, S) and current are calculated over a user-selected interval, and the meter records peak demand so that facility managers can see which loads drive their maximum demand charges.
Power quality functions are focused on harmonic distortion. The Schneider Electric PM2120 reports THD for both current and voltage on each phase up to the 15th harmonic, with a Class 5 accuracy rating for these harmonic distortion values. This is enough to flag feeders affected by drives, rectifiers, UPS systems or LED lighting, and to decide whether a more detailed power quality study is needed.
Accuracy
The published measurement accuracy of the Schneider Electric PM2120 is ±0.5 % for voltage and current, ±1 % for active, reactive and apparent power and for active and reactive energy, ±0.01 for power factor and ±0.05 % for frequency. Combined with the Class 1 energy ratings, this positions the Schneider Electric PM2120 for sub-metering and internal cost allocation rather than primary utility revenue billing.

Communication and Integration
The Schneider Electric PM2120 is the communicating member of the PM2100 LED family. Its two-wire RS485 port uses Modbus RTU with selectable baud rates of 4800, 9600, 19200 or 38400 bps and even, odd or no parity, and the port is insulated to 2500 V. In a typical installation, several meters are daisy-chained on one RS485 segment and polled by a PLC, RTU, gateway or energy management software. Because the register map is standard Modbus, the Schneider Electric PM2120 can be integrated into most third-party control systems as well as Schneider Electric software platforms. As a general engineering note, RS485 segments should use twisted-pair cable with correct termination and a single shield earth point to keep communication reliable in noisy switchgear rooms.
For cybersecurity, the data sheet states that communication ports can be enabled or disabled, and meter settings are protected by an access code to prevent tampering from the front panel.
Installation and Wiring
The Schneider Electric PM2120 fits a standard 96 x 96 mm panel cut-out and is held by clip-on fixings, with a total depth of 76.09 mm, of which 61.64 mm sits behind the panel. Voltage inputs use four screw terminals at the top and the current transformer inputs use six screw terminals at the bottom. Current inputs accept secondary currents from 1 A or 5 A CTs, while the voltage inputs connect directly up to 480 V AC line-to-line, or through external voltage transformers on medium-voltage systems. The auxiliary supply accepts both AC and DC from 44 to 277 V, which simplifies panel design where a DC station battery is available.
The polycarbonate housing is rated V-0 to UL 94 and offers double insulation (Class II). The front is IP54 and the body IP30, so in dusty plant rooms the Schneider Electric PM2120 should be installed in a suitably rated enclosure, as with any panel instrument.
Applications
- Sub-billing and cost allocation for tenants, production lines or departments.
- Feeder and incomer monitoring in LV switchboards and motor control centres.
- Energy monitoring in pumping stations, desalination and water treatment plants.
- Utility and auxiliary power monitoring in oil and gas facilities and substations.
- Commercial buildings, hospitals and data rooms using a BMS over Modbus.
- Identifying harmonic issues from variable speed drives and non-linear loads.
Choosing Within the Range
The EasyLogic PM2100 range includes several LED models that differ mainly in communication and functions. The Schneider Electric PM2120 adds the RS485 Modbus port and harmonic measurement to the basic metering set, making it a common choice where remote reading is required but advanced power quality analysis is not. For an overview of the family, see the Schneider Electric EasyLogic PM2000 power meter page. Where waveform capture, higher harmonic orders or revenue-grade accuracy are needed, the Schneider Electric PowerLogic PM5560 power meter is a step up, and for DIN-rail sub-metering of individual circuits the Schneider Electric iEM3255 modular energy meter is a compact alternative.

Altivar 320 variable speed drives appear in several ratings, for example the ATV320U22N4C at 2.2 kW and the ATV320U75N4B at 7.5 kW. Automation is represented by Modicon TM3 expansion modules such as the TM3TM thermocouple input module. Metering includes the EasyLogic PM2000 power meter and iEM2000 modular energy meters. Trihal cast resin transformers and Spacial enclosure accessories complete the electrical distribution side.Where Schneider Electric equipment is used
Main and distribution switchboards in buildings, utilities and industrial plants carry the breakers and meters. Altivar drives run pumps, fans, conveyors and packaging machines. Modicon controllers with TM3 I/O are common in machine builders' panels, and Trihal transformers serve indoor substations where a dry-type unit is specified.Ordering Schneider Electric parts: what we need
The commercial reference printed on the product or its carton is the fastest route. For breakers without a reference send rated current, breaking capacity, number of poles, trip unit type, fixed or drawout construction and the accessories fitted, such as shunt trip, auxiliary contacts or motor mechanism. For drives give motor power, supply voltage and the communication option. For transformers send rated power, primary and secondary voltage, vector group and enclosure rating.Browse Schneider Electric products by category: Circuit Breaker, Electrical & Power Modules, AC Drives, PLC & I/O Cards, Metering Systems.
