Pfannenberg DTI 6X2E 400V Cooling Unit, 2-4.5 kW Modbus
Description
DTI 6X2E 400V cooling unit: decoded part number
The DTI 6X2E 400V is a variable-capacity, partially recessed cooling unit for enclosures with high and changing heat loads. Brushless DC compressor technology lets the unit run between 2000 W and 4500 W instead of cycling on and off, which keeps the cabinet temperature steadier and lowers electrical consumption at partial load.
Decoded: DTI = partially recessed door or side mounting, 6X2E = the speed-controlled 2 to 4.5 kW series, 400V = three-phase 400 / 460 V supply. The article number is 13897832555.

How the DTI 6X2E 400V works
In a speed-controlled unit the compressor and fans run at the speed needed to hold the setpoint. At low heat load the unit therefore runs slowly with low consumption, and at high load it ramps up to 4500 W. This avoids frequent starts, reduces temperature swings and extends component life.
The large distance between the intake and exhaust vents produces a long air path inside the enclosure, which helps remove hot spots. A Modbus interface lets the cooling unit report status and alarms to a PLC or monitoring system, which makes remote monitoring in unmanned installations possible.
As with all units of this kind, the refrigeration circuit is hermetically sealed and separate from the cabinet air, with a condensate evaporation system and a safety overflow.
Fit in the system and related Pfannenberg parts
The 6X2E sits at the upper end of Pfannenberg’s side-mounted and recessed range. The related DTS 6X2E is the outer-mounted twin of this unit, and the 6X1E series covers 500 to 2600 W.

Selection and ordering checklist for the DTI 6X2E 400V
Before ordering the DTI 6X2E 400V, settle the following points so that the right variant is quoted:
- Heat load profile, not just the peak: speed control gives the best result when the load varies
- Worst-case ambient; capacity at A35/A50 is 2000 to 3100 W
- Three-phase 400 / 460 V supply with a type C 10 A breaker
- Cut-out and 120 mm of interior depth for the DTI recessed unit
- Whether Modbus integration is required and which register map the control system expects
Installation, commissioning and maintenance of the DTI 6X2E 400V
The unit is recessed into the door or wall cut-out. It is large, so plan lifting and support. Use a type C circuit breaker of the stated size, connect the three-phase supply using the plug supplied and the manufacturer wiring diagram, and apply the Modbus connection if remote data are required.
At first start, the compressor may run slowly at low load. Allow it to run and observe the control response over several hours before final tuning.
- Check condenser and filters at set intervals; sand and dust build up fast
- Observe Modbus alarms and operating data for early warning
- Inspect condensate evaporator and drain
- Keep the cabinet sealed so that the cooling unit does not work against moisture ingress
Typical applications in Oman and the GCC
A 4.5 kW class variable unit suits large drive cabinets, UPS and battery rooms, transformer-rectifier cabinets and process-control cabinets in the Gulf region, where cabinets that dissipate several kilowatts sit in unconditioned rooms or outdoors under shade.
Speed control and the Modbus link are valuable at remote unmanned sites such as pumping stations and wellhead shelters, as they offer a lower energy bill and notification of faults before the electronics overheat.

Site conditions in Oman for the DTI 6X2E 400V
Panel cooling in Oman is sized for the worst case, not the average day. Summer shade temperatures in Muscat, Sohar and the interior regularly pass 45 °C, and a cabinet standing in direct sun gains further heat through its walls. When you size the DTI 6X2E 400V, add the internal losses of drives, power supplies and PLCs to the solar and wall gain, and compare the total with the useful cooling capacity at your real ambient and target cabinet temperature, rather than with a nominal figure stated at milder test conditions.
Coastal sites near Duqm, Salalah or Sur also bring humidity and salt-laden dust. Keep door seals intact, route the condensate drain away from live parts, and plan routine filter and coil cleaning so that the DTI 6X2E 400V keeps its rated performance through the long summer season.
