Endress+Hauser PMP135 Cerabar T Hygienic Pressure Transducer
Description
Endress+Hauser PMP135 Cerabar T hygienic pressure transducer
The Endress+Hauser PMP135 is a compact pressure transducer from the Cerabar T family, designed for hygienic processes in food, beverage, dairy and pharmaceutical plants. It has a flush-mounted 316L metallic process diaphragm, so there is no pocket in which product can collect, and it measures gauge or absolute pressure from 0 to 1 bar up to 0 to 40 bar (15 to 600 psi). The output is either a 4 to 20 mA current loop or a PNP switch output. Seven Star LLC supplies the PMP135 in Oman and the GCC as an independent supplier based in Muscat.
Within Cerabar T the PMC131 has a ceramic sensor for general use, the PMP131 a metallic diaphragm for threaded connections up to 400 bar, and the PMP135 the hygienic metallic design with clamp, Tri-Clamp, SMS and flush G 1 connections.

How the PMP135 measures
The process pressure deflects the flush 316L diaphragm. A small amount of mineral oil passes the force to a piezoresistive silicon bridge, and the electronics convert the bridge signal to a 4 to 20 mA current or to a PNP switching output. The measuring cell is small, which gives a very short rise time of 2 to 5 ms and makes the PMP135 useful for fast pressure events on filling machines and homogenisers.
The analog version is a 2-wire device powered from the loop: the maximum load is (supply voltage – 12 V) divided by 0.02 A. The switch version adds a PNP output with reverse polarity protection; its switch point can deviate by ±1 % of the upper range limit and repeats within 0.5 % of URL.
PMP135 process connections and ordering codes
The process connection is selected with a one-letter code in the order structure. All are 316L and made for flush mounting.
| Code | Process connection | Hygienic approvals |
|---|---|---|
| F | Clamp ISO 2852 DN 22 (¾ in), DIN 32676 DN 20 | EHEDG, 3-A |
| G | Tri-Clamp ISO 2852 DN 25 to 38 (1 to 1½ in), DIN 32676 DN 25 to 40 | EHEDG, 3-A |
| H | Tri-Clamp ISO 2852 DN 40 to 51 (2 in), DIN 32676 DN 50 | EHEDG, 3-A |
| M | Thread G 1 with metallic sealing taper, flush, with adapter | Hygienic adapter |
| N | Thread G 1 with sealing surface for flush installation, with adapter | EHEDG and 3-A with o-ring seal and welding neck |
| S | SMS 1½ in, PN 25 | EHEDG, 3-A |
The electrical connection is coded A1 (ISO 4400 plug M16), A2 (ISO 4400 plug ½ NPT), A3 (5 m cable, IP68) or A4 (M12 plug). The output code defines the electronics: 0 for analog 4 to 20 mA with SIL, D and 1 for the same output with ATEX Ex ib, 5 for EEx nA, 2 for the PNP switch and 3 for the PNP switch with EEx nA. Additional options cover the final inspection report and the EN 10204 3.1 material certificate for wetted parts.
Where the PMP135 fits among Cerabar T and Cerabar M devices
The PMC131 and PMP131 cover general industrial duty with threads, while the PMP135 is the hygienic member. When the application needs a display, HART or fieldbus, or a diaphragm seal for high temperature, the next step up is a Cerabar M such as the PMP51 or PMP55, or a newer model such as the PMP63B. The PMP135 is a good fit for OEM machines and skids because it is small and light.
PMP135 selection and ordering checklist
- Gauge or absolute sensor and the range, with the maximum CIP or SIP pressure checked against the overpressure limit.
- Process connection: match the existing clamp, Tri-Clamp, SMS or G 1 adapter and the sealing method.
- Output: 4 to 20 mA or PNP switch, and the supply voltage available in the cabinet.
- Ex requirement: versions exist for ATEX II 1/2 G, II 2 G Ex ib and II 3 G (EEx nA); state the zone.
- Connector or cable: plug type, M12, or fixed 5 m cable for wash-down areas.
- Certificates: inspection report and 3.1 material certificate if the batch record needs them.
PMP135 installation, commissioning and maintenance
Any mounting orientation is allowed, but the position changes the zero by a few millibar: with the diaphragm pointing up the reading rises by up to 4 mbar and pointing down it falls by up to 4 mbar compared with the horizontal calibration position. This only matters on the 1 bar range, where the offset can be corrected at the controller. Fit the correct hygienic seal and use a welding neck or adapter designed for flush installation, following EHEDG and 3-A guidance for the pipe coupling.
Use shielded cable for customer-made connections. Check the loop with a calibrator and remember that temperature adds a typical 0.2 % of URL per 10 K on zero and span. Because the transducer has no display, label the tag clearly and keep the old nameplate range and connection code for a like-for-like replacement. Clean in place within the stated process limit of 100 °C, with short steam excursions to 135 °C for no more than an hour.
Typical PMP135 applications in Oman and the GCC
Hygienic pressure transducers are used on dairy and juice lines, bottling and canning plants, water treatment skids, pharmaceutical and cosmetic mixing tanks, and CIP stations across Oman and the GCC. The PMP135 can monitor filling pressure, homogenizer discharge, tank overpressure and pump protection. In hot ambient conditions keep the cable and the transducer body out of direct sun and away from steam lines, because the ambient limit is 70 °C, and use the IP68 cable version where hoses wash the equipment down.

Where Endress+Hauser instruments are used
In Oman and the GCC, Endress+Hauser instruments are common in oil and gas production and processing, refineries and petrochemicals, desalination and water networks, wastewater treatment, power plants and food and beverage plants. Coriolis meters measure hydrocarbon and chemical flows, electromagnetic meters cover water and wastewater, radar transmitters handle tank and silo level, and Liquiline analysers monitor water quality. Proline 300 and 500 flowmeters include Heartbeat Technology for in-situ verification, which reduces the need to remove a meter for checks.
Ordering Endress+Hauser instruments: what we need
The order code on the nameplate (for example PMP71-1QA1S11RDADU) defines every option: measuring range, process connection, materials, output, approvals and display. Send it with the serial number; Endress+Hauser can retrieve the original configuration from the serial number. For a new instrument add the medium, operating and design pressure and temperature, range, line size or tank geometry, process connection, wetted materials, output or protocol (4-20 mA HART, PROFIBUS, FOUNDATION Fieldbus, Modbus) and the hazardous-area approval required. Older models such as Promass 80/83 or Micropilot M are replaced by current Proline or 80 GHz Micropilot devices.
