Dwyer Series 616D DIN Rail Differential Pressure Transmitter
Description
Series 616D DIN rail differential pressure transmitter
The Dwyer Series 616D is a differential pressure transmitter housed in a narrow case that clips onto a 35 mm DIN rail. It senses the pressure difference of air and compatible gases and outputs 4-20 mA in a 2-wire loop or 0-10 V DC in 3-wire operation, with the unusual option of using the current and voltage outputs simultaneously. Accuracy is ±0.25 % of full scale, and zero and span push buttons are provided for calibration checks.
Seven Star LLC supplies the Series 616D in Oman and the GCC as an independent supplier in Muscat. The sections that follow describe the model structure, electrical behaviour and application points.
Series 616D ordering code
The product code is built from the series, a range number and optional suffixes, for example 616D-5-NIST. The range numbers are -2 for 0 to 6 in w.c., -3 for 0 to 10 in w.c., -4 for 0 to 20 in w.c., -5 for 0 to 40 in w.c., -6 for 0 to 100 in w.c., -7 for 0 to 200 in w.c. and -8 for 0 to 10 psid.
Options on the datasheet are -C0C for a certificate of calibration, -FC for factory calibration and -NIST for a NIST traceable calibration certificate.

How the Series 616D is applied
The sensor compares the pressures on its two ports and the electronics provide a conditioned output. The standard two-wire current output is the robust choice for long cable runs and noisy environments, while the 3-wire voltage output suits short runs to building controllers. The simultaneous output feature means that a PLC can read the current while a local meter or a test instrument reads the voltage from the same unit.
The zero and span controls help to check and correct small calibration shifts, but they are not designed for re-ranging, so the correct range number should be ordered. Because the case is made for a DIN rail, several transmitters can be mounted close together in a panel, which reduces cabling and puts all instruments near the I/O cards.
The wide ambient range, -10 to 85 °C, is greater than that of the 616KX and 616W models and suits warm panels.
Series 616D among related models
Choose the 616D when transmitters are to be gathered in a control panel with pneumatic tubing brought to the panel, for example when many duct or filter taps are collected. The Series 607D is the DIN rail model with lower ranges (0 to 0.1 in w.c.), and the Series 616KX is the smaller OEM module.
For outdoor mounting without a panel, the Series 616W is the weatherproof alternative.
Selection and ordering checklist for the Series 616D
- Range number and the maximum pressure that can occur
- Output: current, voltage or both
- Supply type: 2-wire or 3-wire
- Calibration paperwork required
- Panel DIN rail space and tubing arrangement
- Ambient temperature in the panel
Installing the Series 616D
Clip the unit onto the rail in a vertical position, run tubing from the sensing points to the NPT ports (or use the barbed fittings supplied), and wire the terminal block following the current output, voltage output or simultaneous output diagrams in the datasheet.
After power-up, zero the unit with both ports at the same pressure. Check the span at an applied pressure in the middle of the range, and record the readings. The stability of 1 % per year suggests annual verification in critical duties.
Typical applications in Oman and the GCC
Air handlers, duct pressure, variable air volume systems and filter monitoring are named in the datasheet. In Gulf facilities, central plant rooms, data centres and clean areas use differential pressure for filter condition and room pressurization, and the DIN rail case keeps these devices in the panel next to the controllers.

Site conditions in Oman for the Series 616D
Field instruments in Oman are exposed to strong sun, high ambient temperature, wind-blown dust and, on coastal plants, salt in the air. When you specify the Series 616D, check the ambient and process temperature limits, the enclosure rating and the wetted and housing materials against the actual installation point, and consider sunshades for transmitters mounted in direct sunlight. Cable entries should be sealed with suitable glands so that dust and moisture cannot enter the housing.
Calibration and verification planning matters as much as selection. Record the range, configuration and tag data of each Series 616D at commissioning, define a check interval that suits the criticality of the loop, and keep the certificates with the plant documentation so that audits and shutdown work can proceed without delay.

About brand
Dwyer Instruments is an American maker of pressure, flow, level and temperature instruments, founded in Chicago in 1931 as F.W. Dwyer Manufacturing Company to make liquid-filled manometers. It later moved to Michigan City, Indiana, and became known for the Magnehelic differential pressure gauge. Dwyer bought OMEGA Engineering in 2022, and the combined business trades as DwyerOmega.
Seven Star LLC sources and supplies Dwyer instruments for projects and plant maintenance in Oman and the GCC, and checks each order code against the manufacturer's documentation.

Dwyer product families on this page
Four Dwyer lines are listed. The Magnehelic 2000 is a diaphragm-type differential pressure gauge for air and compatible non-combustible gases. The Photohelic 3000MR and 3000MRS combine the gauge with switching, with relay (MR) or solid-state (MRS) outputs. The Series MSX Magnesense is a differential pressure transmitter for building and HVAC air systems. The Flotect V6 is a flow switch; the listed V6EPS-S-S-4-S version is SPDT, in stainless steel, for 1-1/4 inch lines.

Ordering Dwyer instruments: what we need
Send the full model number from the dial or label, because the range is part of it: a 2000-series Magnehelic number changes with the scale and the units. For Photohelic units add the supply voltage and output type. For Dwyer pressure transmitters state range, output signal and display option. For flow switches give line size, medium, wetted material and enclosure type. Recent paperwork may carry the DwyerOmega name; the model numbers stay the reference.
Facts checked against DwyerOmega's Dwyer brand page and HVAC Today, October 2026.
