Brand: M/D Totco
M/D Totco DBS107A / DBS112A Pressure Debooster Systems
Description
Pressure deboosters that let the gauge sit far from the source
The M/D Totco DBS107A and DBS112A are pressure debooster systems for reading very high pressures at a safe distance. The DBS107A is the bracket-mount version and the DBS112A the panel-mount version. A debooster reduces the pressure sent to a specially calibrated gauge to 25 percent of the indicated value, and the lower output pressure allows longer hose runs and keeps the operator further from the high-pressure source.
Technical specifications
| Parameter | Specification |
|---|---|
| Manufacturer / series | NOV M/D Totco DBS107A-Series (bracket mount), DBS112A-Series (panel mount) |
| Debooster DB1004A | Proof tested to 22,500 psi; working pressures to 15,000 psi |
| Debooster DB1006A | Proof tested to 30,000 psi; working pressures to 20,000 psi |
| Gauge pressure | Actual pressure at the specially calibrated gauge is 25% of the indicated value |
| Standard capacities | 10,000, 15,000 and 20,000 psi |
| Metric units | Equivalent values in kg/cm2, MPa and bar |
| Mounting | DBS107A bracket mount; DBS112A panel mount |
Selecting the system
Select the debooster from the working pressure: the DB1004A is stated for working pressures to 15,000 psi and the DB1006A for 20,000 psi, and the standard capacities are 10,000, 15,000 and 20,000 psi. Because the gauge is calibrated to show four times its own pressure, never swap the gauge for an ordinary gauge or replace it with a different debooster without recalibrating. Choose the bracket or panel version for the mounting position, and agree the hose length with the supplier before ordering, since the catalogue does not give a hose length for these systems.
Send the working and test pressure, unit, mounting style and hose length with your enquiry. The catalogue carries 2015 and 2017 copyright dates, so confirm that the model is current and which options are available before ordering.

How the DBS107A Pressure Debooster Works
A pressure debooster is a hydraulic pressure reducer based on a difference in piston areas. The high-pressure process fluid acts on a small piston face. That piston is connected to, or bears against, a larger piston that pressurises a separate, sealed fluid column leading to the gauge. Because force is pressure multiplied by area, a 4:1 area ratio produces a gauge-side pressure equal to one quarter of the process pressure. This is the 25% ratio stated for the DBS107A and DBS112A systems, and it is why the gauge dial is calibrated to show four times the pressure actually applied to it.
Separating the process fluid from the gauge fluid has further benefits. Drilling mud, cement slurry or other abrasive and contaminated fluids never reach the gauge or the transmission hose, and the hose and gauge only see a quarter of the process pressure. This allows a longer, lighter hose run to a driller’s console, a cementing unit panel or a test station, so that the operator reads the pressure at a safe distance from high-pressure lines.
Bracket or Panel Mount: DBS107A vs DBS112A
| Feature | DBS107A | DBS112A |

| Typical use | Free-standing or surface-mounted gauge near the work area | Gauge installed in an instrument panel or console |
| Debooster options | DB1004A (working pressures to 15,000 psi) or DB1006A (to 20,000 psi) | |
| Standard capacities | 10,000, 15,000 and 20,000 psi, with metric equivalents | |
Installation & Maintenance
- Install the debooster at the high-pressure connection using fittings and unions rated for the full working pressure of the line.
- Fill the low-pressure side, hose and gauge with the specified clean fluid and remove all air. Trapped air makes the reading slow and inaccurate.
- Support the hose along its route, protect it from crushing and heat, and avoid tight bends.
- Check the system against a calibrated reference at regular intervals, and always recalibrate when the gauge, hose or debooster is changed.
- Before any maintenance, isolate and bleed the high-pressure line to zero and confirm that the gauge reads zero.
- Inspect for leaks at the debooster body and connections; loss of fluid on the gauge side produces a low reading, which is a serious hazard on high-pressure operations.
Typical Applications in Oman & the GCC
Pressure debooster systems are used on drilling rigs to monitor standpipe and mud pump pressure, on cementing and stimulation units, on well-testing and well-intervention equipment, and on high-pressure test benches for valves and blowout preventer equipment. Oman’s onshore drilling and well services sector and the wider GCC oilfield market rely on this kind of remote reading to keep personnel away from lines operating at 10,000 psi and above.
Why Source from Seven Star LLC
Seven Star LLC supplies M/D Totco pressure instruments across Oman and the GCC. Send the working pressure, unit, mounting style and required hose length, and our team can help confirm the correct DBS107A or DBS112A configuration before a quotation is issued.
Choosing the Right DBS107A Capacity
Select a system whose capacity is above the highest pressure expected in normal operation, including pressure tests, but not so high that normal readings sit at the bottom of the dial where resolution is poor. A common rule for pressure gauges is to keep normal working pressure in the middle part of the scale. For example, a line that normally runs at 5,000–7,000 psi and is tested to 10,000 psi would usually be paired with a 15,000 psi system rather than a 10,000 psi one, so that the test pressure does not drive the pointer to full scale. Always confirm that the debooster working pressure rating covers the maximum line pressure.
Spare Parts Planning
Rig and service teams often keep a spare gauge, hose and seal kit for each installed debooster so that a damaged component can be replaced and the system recalibrated quickly, without leaving a high-pressure line unmonitored.

About brand
M/D Totco is a brand of drilling instrumentation and rig data systems owned by NOV. It combines two businesses from the 1920s: Martin-Decker, formed in 1928 when Elmer Decker and Frosty Martin bought out the Loomis Oilwell Control Company, and Totco, the Technical Oil Tool Corporation, founded in 1929 to make a mechanical drift recorder. Varco acquired both in 1990 and formed M/D Totco.
Seven Star LLC is an independent supplier in Muscat. We list M/D Totco instruments for drilling contractors and rig maintenance in Oman and the GCC.

M/D Totco product series
Weight instruments include the anchor type hydraulic weight indicators, the GM6A and GM6AP single pointer indicators and the GM4 and GM4P compound pointer indicators. The H6E is a tong line pull indicator with load cell.
Pressure products include the TRU-VUE GM14 unitized pressure gauge and the DBS107A and DBS112A pressure debooster systems, and the E-Totco is an electronic drift survey tool.
Hydraulic weight indicators read the dead line tension through a load sensor at the anchor and show hookload on a large dial in front of the driller. Debooster systems isolate gauges from drilling mud while passing the pressure signal.
Where M/D Totco instruments are used
Hookload and weight-on-bit reading, mud pump and standpipe pressure, tong torque and wellbore inclination surveys on drilling and workover rigs.
