Dwyer Series 616KX Compact DP Transmitter
Description
Series 616KX compact differential pressure transmitter
The Dwyer Series 616KX is the smallest differential pressure transmitter in the maker catalogue, designed for air and non-combustible compatible gases. The molded housing weighs only 51 g, carries an edge-mounted push button for zero, and accepts barbed or threaded process connections. Accuracy classes of 0.25, 0.5, 1.0 and 2.0 % of full-scale output give the buyer a choice of price against precision.
Seven Star LLC supplies the Series 616KX in Oman and the GCC as an independent supplier in Muscat. Below you will find the model structure, electrical options and the applications for which the datasheet intends this model.
Series 616KX accuracy codes and options
The accuracy class is part of the model: 616KX-025 stands for ±0.25 % FSO, 616KX-050 for ±0.50 %, 616KX-100 for ±1.0 % and 616KX-200 for ±2.0 %. Ranges run from very low spans of 0 to 1 in w.c. (25 Pa to 250 Pa) up to 0 to 40 in w.c. (500 Pa to 10,000 Pa), with matching pressure limits of 3.6 psig and 6 psig.
Further ordering options include 1/8 in NPT or BSPT threaded process connections instead of barbed ports, an optional terminal cover, and field-selectable voltage outputs on top of the standard 4-20 mA signal.

How the Series 616KX behaves in service
The sensor compares the pressures on the high and low ports, and the electronics amplify and linearize the result to a 4-20 mA or voltage output. Because the transmitter is not sensitive to position, it can be wall-mounted, rail-mounted or fixed inside an OEM enclosure without a zero shift from orientation, although a zero check after mounting remains good practice.
The push button at the edge of the housing sets zero; this single control makes commissioning fast when many units are installed, such as one per room or per filter bank. Wiring is by a screw terminal block, with a terminal cover available as an option.
Choose two-wire current output for long cable runs to a PLC or building management system, and voltage output for short runs to controllers that expect a 0-10 V or 1-5 V signal.
Position of the Series 616KX in the range
Series 616KX is aimed at panel builders and HVAC service companies. The weatherproof Series 616W provides a NEMA 4X housing and display, the Series 616D mounts on a DIN rail with span and zero push buttons, and the Series 607D offers very low ranges down to 0.1 in w.c. in a DIN rail housing.
For hazardous areas or process fluids other than clean air, select a different family such as the Series 3100D.
Selection and ordering checklist for the Series 616KX
- Accuracy class: 0.25, 0.5, 1.0 or 2.0 %
- Pressure range and the maximum static pressure
- Output signal: current or selectable voltage
- Process connection: barbed tube size or 1/8 in thread
- Mounting method and enclosure rating (NEMA 1)
- Supply voltage, 2-wire or 3-wire
Installing and maintaining the Series 616KX
Use tubing to connect the high and low ports to the duct or filter taps, keeping tube runs short and avoiding kinks and condensate traps. Connect power and signal to the terminal block and press the zero button with both ports open to atmosphere or equalised.
The device does not need regular maintenance, but verification against a reference manometer once a year fits the stated stability of less than 1 % per year.
Typical applications in Oman and the GCC
Typical uses are duct pressure control, variable-air-volume boxes, air handler filter monitoring and room pressurization in the hospital and commercial buildings that are growing in the Gulf. The wide operating temperature of -20 to 70 °C supports plant rooms with high ambient heat, but outdoor exposure needs the weatherproof 616W instead.
Accuracy variants of the Series 616KX
From the datasheet.
| Model | Accuracy | Typical use |
|---|---|---|
| 616KX-025 | ±0.25 % FSO | Precise room or duct pressure |
| 616KX-050 | ±0.50 % FSO | General HVAC monitoring |
| 616KX-100 | ±1.0 % FSO | Filter monitoring |
| 616KX-200 | ±2.0 % FSO | Economical OEM use |

Site conditions in Oman for the Series 616KX
Field instruments in Oman are exposed to strong sun, high ambient temperature, wind-blown dust and, on coastal plants, salt in the air. When you specify the Series 616KX, check the ambient and process temperature limits, the enclosure rating and the wetted and housing materials against the actual installation point, and consider sunshades for transmitters mounted in direct sunlight. Cable entries should be sealed with suitable glands so that dust and moisture cannot enter the housing.
Calibration and verification planning matters as much as selection. Record the range, configuration and tag data of each Series 616KX at commissioning, define a check interval that suits the criticality of the loop, and keep the certificates with the plant documentation so that audits and shutdown work can proceed without delay.

About brand
Dwyer Instruments is an American maker of pressure, flow, level and temperature instruments, founded in Chicago in 1931 as F.W. Dwyer Manufacturing Company to make liquid-filled manometers. It later moved to Michigan City, Indiana, and became known for the Magnehelic differential pressure gauge. Dwyer bought OMEGA Engineering in 2022, and the combined business trades as DwyerOmega.
Seven Star LLC sources and supplies Dwyer instruments for projects and plant maintenance in Oman and the GCC, and checks each order code against the manufacturer's documentation.

Dwyer product families on this page
Four Dwyer lines are listed. The Magnehelic 2000 is a diaphragm-type differential pressure gauge for air and compatible non-combustible gases. The Photohelic 3000MR and 3000MRS combine the gauge with switching, with relay (MR) or solid-state (MRS) outputs. The Series MSX Magnesense is a differential pressure transmitter for building and HVAC air systems. The Flotect V6 is a flow switch; the listed V6EPS-S-S-4-S version is SPDT, in stainless steel, for 1-1/4 inch lines.

Ordering Dwyer instruments: what we need
Send the full model number from the dial or label, because the range is part of it: a 2000-series Magnehelic number changes with the scale and the units. For Photohelic units add the supply voltage and output type. For Dwyer pressure transmitters state range, output signal and display option. For flow switches give line size, medium, wetted material and enclosure type. Recent paperwork may carry the DwyerOmega name; the model numbers stay the reference.
Facts checked against DwyerOmega's Dwyer brand page and HVAC Today, October 2026.
