ABB ACS880-01-363A-3 Wall-Mounted Drive 200 kW 363 A
Description
A 200 kW industrial drive on a 400 V supply
In the ACS880-01 range the ACS880-01-363A-3 is the type that ABB rates for 200 kW at 400 V. Nominal output is 363 A at 200 kW and the mechanical size is frame R9. Typical jobs are centrifugal loads needing 200 to 250 kW and the biggest wall-mounted jobs: large pumps, fans and compressors. Direct torque control, a built-in harmonic choke and Safe Torque Off come with the drive, which keeps the surrounding cabinet simple.

Current ratings and installation size
From the ratings table: nominal 363 A / 200 kW, light overload 345 A / 200 kW, heavy duty 293 A / 160 kW, IMAX 498 A. Variable-torque loads normally use the light overload column; constant-torque machinery should be sized from the heavy-duty column. Start from the motor nameplate current, then verify derating for temperature, altitude and switching frequency.
The standard IP21 body of frame R9 measures 955 mm high with the cable entry box (680 mm without it), 380 mm wide and 413 mm deep, and weighs 95 kg. The IP55 version for dusty and wet places is 955 x 380 x 477 mm and 102 kg. The drive loses about 4688 W, needs 1150 m3/h of cooling air and runs at 70 dB(A).
What can be added to the ACS880-01-363A-3
For braking, the chopper is a selectable internal option, order code +D150. ABB lists the SAFUR200F500 resistor of 2.7 ohm and 5400 kJ at 160 kW, and a minimum resistance of 2 ohm. EMC filters are options: +E202 for category C2 on a grounded network, +E200 for C3 and +E201 for an ungrounded network; category C4 is standard on 380 to 500 V drives. The catalogue’s sine filter for this size is B84143V0390S229, rated 297 A, for step-up and long-cable duty.
Control connections include 2 analog inputs, 2 analog outputs, 6 digital inputs, 2 configurable digital inputs/outputs, 3 relay outputs, Safe Torque Off and an EIA-485 link that serves as Modbus RTU or drive-to-drive link. The control unit has three slots for adapters, I/O extension, feedback and safety modules.

Documents and quotation
The ratings, dimensions, brake and filter data were read from the ACS880 single drives catalogue 3AUA0000098111, which is linked, and ABB’s page for the ACS880-01-363A-3. Seven Star LLC quotes the ACS880-01-363A-3 from Muscat once it has the motor nameplate, supply voltage and option list. Please confirm the type code, options, motor data and ambient conditions before you order; the catalogue revision may be newer than the linked copy. More sizes sit in AC drives, and the ABB ACS580 page covers the general purpose family.

About brand
ABB is the Swiss-Swedish engineering group for electrification and automation: low voltage drives, motors, circuit breakers and motor control, process instruments and analysers, control systems and robots. It was formed on 5 January 1988 by the merger of two older companies. ASEA was founded in Västerås, Sweden, in 1883 by Ludvig Fredholm to make electric lighting and generators. BBC Brown Boveri was founded in Baden near Zurich in 1891 by Charles E. L. Brown and Walter Boveri. ABB Ltd is incorporated in Switzerland, headquartered in Zurich and listed on the SIX Swiss Exchange and Nasdaq Stockholm.

Choosing an ABB drive
ABB's ACS drive codes are easy to read once you know the pattern. In ACS580-01-046A-4, "ACS580" is the drive family, "01" means a wall-mounted single drive, "046A" is the rated output current (about 46 A) and "-4" means a 380–480 V supply. The family is chosen by application: ACS355 for compact machinery, ACS310 for simple pumps and fans, ACS580 as the general-purpose drive, ACQ580 for water and wastewater with pump functions such as pipe fill and dry-run protection, and ACS880 for heavy industrial duty with direct torque control. Size the drive on the motor's full-load current, not only its kW rating, and allow derating for the high ambient temperatures common in Gulf electrical rooms.
Where ABB products are used
In Oman and the GCC, ABB drives and motors run pumps, fans and compressors in water and wastewater plants, district cooling, oil and gas and industry. ABB flowmeters, level instruments and analysers are used in water utilities, power and desalination plants and refineries, and SACE breakers protect switchboards in buildings and plants.
