Applications and selection notes
IO-Link masters bring digital smart sensors, such as the Turck ultrasonic, pressure and level sensors described elsewhere in this catalogue, onto the plant network without an analog card, with parameter change and diagnostics from the PLC. This block adds channel diagnostics and a connected Ethernet switch with 10/100 Mbps ports. The datasheet lists a fast start-up under 150 ms, which matters for tool-change and quick-restart machine applications.
Installation hint: mount the block on a flat surface with the two fixing holes, use the supply and bus connectors the table lists, assign the IP address or use DHCP before connecting to the controller, and fit protective caps on unused ports so the IP65, IP67 or IP69K rating is kept. Check the power budget of the sensor and actuator groups.
Type code, ident number and checks
Derived from the datasheet titles: TBEN is the Turck block Ethernet family, S1 and S2 are the compact 32 mm wide housings with M8 connections, L4 and L5 are the larger housings with M12 connections (L4 with a 4-pin and L5 with a 5-pin 7/8-inch supply connector in the feature list), DIP means digital PNP inputs, DOP digital PNP outputs and IOL IO-Link master channels. Ident number 6814017 identifies this exact module.
A short checklist before you order: the connector style (M8 or M12) of your sensors and valves, the number and type of channels, the supply connector, any hazardous-area conditions in the Quick Start Guide, and the fieldbus protocol and firmware needed by your PLC. Specifications here are restated from the official datasheet and should be matched against the current maker revision.

About brand
Turck is the German automation company for sensors, connectivity, fieldbus I/O and interface technology. It grew from Hans Turck's engineering office in Mülheim an der Ruhr: in 1965 a chemical plant ordered an isolation amplifier for intrinsically safe circuits, and the first 20 units were built by his brother Werner Turck in Halver. The family-owned Turck group is still headquartered in Mülheim an der Ruhr, with production in Halver and other sites.
Seven Star LLC is an independent supplier in Muscat. We list Turck sensors and I/O devices for machine builders and maintenance teams in Oman and the GCC.

Milestones
- 1965: An order from a German chemical plant for an amplifier module starts the business; Werner Turck builds the first 20 units.
- 1970: Hans Turck KG and Werner Turck KG are registered as separate companies.
- 1975: Hans Turck KG opens its building in Mülheim an der Ruhr.
- 1994: Turck Holding combines the two Turck companies under one roof.
Turck product series
Most of the Turck products here are inductive proximity sensors: threaded M12, M18 and M30 barrels in flush (BI) and non-flush (NI) versions, uprated-range (U) sensors, rectangular CP40 and CP80 housings and BIM magnetic-field sensors for detecting pistons in pneumatic cylinders. The type code describes the sensor; in BI5-M18-AP6X-H1141, BI means flush mounting, 5 is the switching distance in mm, AP6X a three-wire PNP output and H1141 the M12 connector.
Turck also makes RU ultrasonic sensors, PS pressure, TS temperature and LS level sensors, FCI inline flow sensors, the CMVT vibration and temperature sensor for condition monitoring over IO-Link, and fieldbus and Ethernet I/O modules and communication components.
Where Turck sensors are used
Position detection on conveyors, packaging machines, presses and robotic cells; level, pressure and temperature monitoring on hydraulic units and process skids; and vibration monitoring on motors, pumps and fans.
