Brand:

Kjellberg CROMO 1B E8018-B2 Creep-Resistant Stick Electrode

Description

Basic-coated electrode for 1Cr-0.5Mo boiler and pipe steels

The Kjellberg CROMO 1B is a basic-coated stick electrode for joint welding on boiler and pipe steel and similar chromium-molybdenum-alloyed, pressure-hydrogen-resistant steel. Kjellberg states that it is preferably used for the steel 13CrMo4-5 at working temperatures of up to 550 degrees C, and that it is well suited for joint welding and surfacing on similar-alloyed case-hardened and heat-treated steel. It is classified E CrMo 1 B 42 under ISO 3580-A and E 8018-B2 under AWS A5.5.

Base materials and heat treatment

The data sheet lists material numbers 1.7218 (25CrMo4), 1.7254 (20CrMo4), 1.7258 (24CrMo5), 1.7262 (15CrMo5), 1.7335 (13CrMo4-5), 1.7337 (16CrMo4-4), 1.7350 (22CrMo4-4) and 1.7354 (G22CrMo5-4) among the materials suited to this electrode. Mechanical values are quoted for heat treatment A, with the heat treatment details given as tempering for at least 0.5 hours at 700 degrees C, and annealing for 0.5 hours at 950 degrees C followed by 0.5 hours at 700 degrees C. Preheat, interpass temperature and post-weld treatment always follow the welding procedure specification for the actual component.

Handling

Basic coatings pick up moisture, so redry at 300 to 350 degrees C for two hours as listed and keep the electrodes warm in a holding oven before use. The 4.00 mm size is not a standard stock article and is produced only to customer order.

About brand

Kjellberg Finsterwalde is a German manufacturer of plasma cutting systems, welding technology and welding electrodes, based in Finsterwalde. The company traces its history to Oscar Kjellberg, who obtained the 1908 German patent for the coated welding electrode, and it has operated in Finsterwalde since 1922. Seven Star LLC, an independent supplier in Muscat, lists the Kjellberg CUTFIRE air plasma cutting systems and sources Kjellberg equipment for fabricators and workshops.

Kjellberg product groups

The cutting range runs from mobile CUTFIRE air plasma units for hand-held and mechanised work to automated systems such as HiFocus, Smart Focus and the iQ and Q series, with KjellCut torches and the Q-Torch automatic torch-change system. On the welding side Kjellberg lists coated electrodes for unalloyed, high-temperature, stainless, nickel-base, cast iron, underwater and surfacing work, plus submerged-arc and TIG welding technology.

Ordering Kjellberg equipment: what we need

Give the model name, the mains voltage and frequency, the material and thickness to be cut, and whether the system will be used hand-held or on a cutting table. For plasma systems also state the torch hose length and whether a CNC interface is needed.
