Brand:

Bernard BTB Semi-Automatic Air-Cooled MIG Gun 200-600 A

Description

Configurable industrial MIG gun from 200 to 600 A

The Bernard BTB is a family of semi-automatic, air-cooled MIG guns rated at 200, 300, 400, 500 and 600 A. Bernard builds each gun to the welder’s neck, handle and trigger preference, and supports every variation with one common line of consumables, based on AccuLock S or Centerfire. The sheet lists commercial truck and trailer, general manufacturing and fabrication, heavy equipment, pipeline, rail and ship as applications. Duty cycle is 60 % with mixed gases.

Neck, handle and cable choices

Bernard lists fixed and rotatable necks in several lengths and angles to improve weld access, with the rotatable versions changed by hand. Handle styles run from curved B series handles to small curved O series and straight T series handles, and not every amperage is offered in every handle style, so state the amperage and handle together in the enquiry. Cable length is selectable at 10, 15, 20 or 25 ft. The Hytrel polymer cable is compatible with all amperages, cable lengths and handle styles.

Selecting an amperage

Pick the rating from the duty cycle you need rather than the peak current: all ratings are 60 % with mixed gases, so a heavy-duty application such as thick structural or pipeline work belongs on the 400 A or higher gun, while 200 and 300 A guns suit lighter sections. Match wire diameter to the gun, from 0.030 in up to 1/8 in, and fit a liner type suited to the wire. If the gun will be used on a long, looped cable run, compare the Bernard S-Gun, which uses a steel monocoil cable.

Bernard adds that the aluminium armoured necks withstand abuse and dissipate heat well, that the straight rear strain relief now carries a lifetime warranty, and that the gun itself has a one year warranty. Because the BTB, S-Gun and TGX sheets all list AccuLock S consumables, a shop that runs several of these guns can hold one consumable stock rather than several.

For replacement work, the sheet points to a parts list and an online gun configurator, so an existing BTB can be matched by amperage, cable length, handle and neck. Quote the existing gun label or part number in the enquiry so the neck angle and liner type can be confirmed before supply.
