Bernard Dura-Flux Self-Shielded Flux-Cored MIG Gun 350 A
Description
A 350 A gun for self-shielded flux-cored wire
The Bernard Dura-Flux series are self-shielded flux-cored (FCAW) MIG welding guns rated at 350 A with a duty cycle of 60 % NEMA at 350 A. Bernard lists them for commercial truck and trailer, construction and infrastructure, heavy equipment, MRO, oil and gas and shipbuilding applications. The series comes in two designs that share one spec sheet: a gun with a replaceable power cable liner for 0.045 to 1/16 in (1.2 to 1.6 mm) wire, and a gun with a fixed power cable liner for 1/16 to 3/32 in (1.6 to 2.4 mm) wire.

Replaceable liner or fixed liner
The replaceable-liner design suits shops that want quick power cable maintenance. It has internal trigger leads, so there is no trigger cord to catch on surrounding objects, a molded handle designed to reduce operator fatigue, a lightweight rotatable Hi-Viz neck for better weld visibility, and Quik Tip contact tips with a threaded taper lock for good heat transfer.
The fixed-liner design uses an ultra heavy-duty steel monocoil power cable that Bernard describes as highly resistant to kinking, for exceptional wire feed in abusive environments. It takes Centerfire contact tips, which Bernard says provide better arc starts and less spatter, and its sleeved and aluminium armoured necks come in several lengths.
Matching the gun to the wire
Self-shielded flux-cored wire is chosen for outdoor and field work where gas shielding would be disturbed by wind. Choose the version by wire diameter first: 1.2 to 1.6 mm wire points to the replaceable-liner gun, 1.6 to 2.4 mm wire to the fixed-liner gun. Then select the power pin for the feeder, the neck length and angle for joint access, and a standard or dual schedule handle. Confirm the wire manufacturer recommended current range against the 350 A and 60 % duty rating.
