Bernard PipeWorx 300 Air-Cooled MIG Gun for Pipe Welding
Description
Air-cooled MIG gun built around root, fill and cap passes on pipe
The Bernard PipeWorx 300 is a semi-automatic, air-cooled MIG gun designed for pipe joints. Bernard says the gun with a standard tip and nozzle suits fill and cap pass welding with flux-cored or pulsed MIG processes, and that a tapered tip and nozzle can be fitted for root passes, particularly in fixed-position work where visibility is poor. That lets one gas and one wire make the whole weld. The sheet names oil and gas among the applications, together with construction and infrastructure and general fabrication.

What sets the PipeWorx apart from a general-purpose gun
Three features are aimed at pipe work. The 60 degree neck combined with tapered tips and nozzles is meant to give a clear view of the root in a pipe joint. The Centerfire contact tip drops into the diffuser without threads, so it can be changed without tools. Laminar gas flow is listed for stainless steel work. Bernard also describes the gun as compact and lightweight with high-amperage capability to reduce operator fatigue. The Q-necks can be swapped according to the welding process, for example between MIG and flux-cored work.
Choosing consumables and liners
The sheet lists Centerfire T series contact tips from 0.035 to 1/16 in, TT series tips for tapered nozzles, large and small nozzles including 3/8 in tapered nozzles, and an E-Z Feed rear-load liner for 0.035 to 0.045 in and 0.045 to 1/16 in wire. Match the contact tip and liner to the wire diameter and type, and keep the wire size within the 0.035 to 1/16 in range of the gun. Check that the gun connection fits your wire feeder, since the sheet is a gun data sheet and does not describe feeder connections.
The gun follows ordinary pipe-welding logic: a tapered tip and nozzle for the root, then a standard tip and nozzle for fill and cap passes at higher current. Gas mixture, current and travel speed come from the qualified welding procedure, because the Bernard sheet describes the gun and not the procedure. Keep spare Centerfire tips, nozzles and liners for each wire size used on the job.
Documents and quotation
The attached Bernard spec sheet gives the data above and the consumable part numbers. For a quotation, send the gun model, cable length, wire type and diameter, welding process, the feeder or power pin required and the quantity of spare consumables. About brand
Bernard is a manufacturer of semi-automatic MIG welding guns and consumables, based in Beecher, Illinois. Arthur A. Bernard founded the company in 1947 as Engineered Welding Products in Chicago, and it took the name Bernard Welding in 1963; it is now part of ITW Welding. Seven Star LLC, an independent supplier in Muscat, lists Bernard MIG guns and sources Bernard guns and consumables for fabricators and pipe welding contractors.
Bernard product groups
The range covers semi-automatic air-cooled guns such as BTB, TGX, S-Gun and PipeWorx, water-cooled T-Gun and W-Gun models, fume extraction guns, the IronPro self-shielded flux-cored gun, and the AccuLock, Centerfire and TOUGH LOCK consumables, liners and necks that go with them. Bernard lists offshore oil and gas, construction and infrastructure, heavy equipment, rail and ship among the industries it serves.Ordering Bernard guns: what we need
Give the gun model, amperage, cable length, handle and neck style, wire type and diameter, and the feeder connection. For consumables state the consumable family, such as AccuLock S or Centerfire, and the contact tip and nozzle sizes.Related products
