VEGASWING 61 Vibrating Level Switch
Description
Overview
The VEGASWING 61 is a universal level switch for use in all liquids. Independent of the mounting position, it detects reliably with millimetre accuracy the limit level. The instrument can be used as empty or full detector, as approved overfill protection, dry run protection, or pump protection in vessels and pipelines, covering the majority of point-level safety functions a plant needs from a single switch design.
With engineering support in Muscat, Seven Star LLC offers the VEGASWING 61 to pharmaceutical, food and beverage, and marine industries across the Sultanate of Oman, Muscat, and the wider GCC. The VEGASWING 61 offers maximum reliability in a wide application range, with numerous process fittings, approvals, and housing/electronics versions available to suit virtually any installation, from simple utility tanks to certified hygienic process vessels.
Measurement Principle
The VEGASWING 61 uses a compact tuning fork that vibrates at its mechanical resonance frequency. When the fork becomes immersed in liquid, its resonance frequency shifts detectably, and the integrated electronics evaluates this change to output a direct switching signal. Because the switching point is determined purely by the mechanical properties of the fork rather than the electrical properties of the medium, it functions reliably regardless of pressure, temperature, foam, viscosity, or the composition of the liquid, which is exactly why it performs reliably where capacitive or conductive switches struggle with coating buildup or low-conductivity media.
As a compact instrument, the VEGASWING 61 can be operated without any external evaluation system—the switching signal can directly operate a connected device such as a warning light, pump, or valve. Setup requires minimal time and cost expenditure since no calibration with the actual process medium is necessary, and the instrument can be installed in virtually any orientation as long as the fork remains unobstructed, giving mechanical designers real flexibility on nozzle placement.
Engineering Design of the VEGASWING 61
The VEGASWING 61 is designed for liquids with a density greater than 0.5 to 2.5 g/cm³ and covers a process temperature range of -50°C to +250°C with a process pressure range of -1 to 64 bar. Wetted parts are available in PFA, 316L, Alloy C22, Alloy 400, ECTFE, or enamel, with an extensive range of hygienic fitting options including Clamp, Slotted Nut, Varivent, F40 compression nut, SMS, and DIN 11864-1-A/2-A connections for sanitary applications.
Housing options include plastic, aluminium, and stainless steel (precision cast or electropolished) construction, with protection ratings up to IP66/IP68 (1 bar). Output options span relay (DPDT), contactless electronic switch, transistor (NPN/PNP), two-wire, and NAMUR signal types, with the pluggable PLICSLED display module providing local status indication. The instrument carries SIL2 qualification along with WHG and VLAREM II overfill protection approvals.

Why Choose Seven Star LLC for Overfill and Dry-Run Protection Switches
Because the VEGASWING 61’s switching point depends purely on the fork’s mechanical resonance rather than the liquid’s electrical properties, it’s specified across a very wide range of media – but the wetted-part material, process temperature rating, and output signal type still need to match the actual application and control system for a safety-relevant overfill or dry-run protection loop to function correctly. Seven Star LLC’s engineers confirm wetted-part compatibility, WHG/overfill certification requirements, and output type (relay, transistor, or NAMUR) against the customer’s control system before the switch is ordered. For pharmaceutical and food-grade facilities across Oman we also confirm hygienic fitting compliance up front, and we plan spare-unit stock so a critical dry-run or overfill protection point is never left uncovered during a replacement.

About brand
VEGA is a German maker of level and pressure instruments. Bruno Grieshaber founded the company in 1959 in Triberg in the Black Forest, and it has been based in Schiltach since 1975, still family owned as VEGA Grieshaber KG. VEGA is best known for radar level sensors: it introduced the first two-wire radar level sensor in 1997 and the first 80 GHz radar sensor for bulk solids, the VEGAPULS 69, in 2015.
Seven Star LLC is an independent supplier listing VEGA radar and guided wave radar transmitters, point level switches, pressure transmitters and signal conditioning instruments for buyers in Oman and the GCC. Sensors are matched from the product code on the type label.

Where VEGA instruments are used
VEGA radar sensors measure level in crude oil and product tanks, separators, chemical reactors, cement and aggregate silos, grain stores and water reservoirs. Compact cable radars are widely used in wastewater pumping stations and flood monitoring. Because 80 GHz radar focuses a narrow beam, it can measure past internal structures in a tank, and it is not affected by the temperature, pressure or vapour above the product, which suits hot Gulf storage tanks.
Ordering VEGA instruments: what we need
The product code on the type label (for example PS64.XXXXXXX) fixes the measuring range, antenna or probe, process connection, electronics and approvals. Send it with the serial number. For a new measurement add the medium and its dielectric constant if known, tank or silo height and internals, process pressure and temperature, process connection, output (4-20 mA HART, PROFIBUS PA, Modbus or IO-Link), and any hazardous-area or overfill protection approval required.
