The RXM4AB2F7 is a Schneider Electric product listed in the datasheet as: Harmony, RXM, miniature plugin relay, 4 C/O, 6 A, 120 VAC, with LED. The RXM4AB2F7 is a Harmony RXM miniature plug-in relay with four changeover contacts at 6 A and a 120 V AC coil. The four contacts let one relay switch several separate circuits. Seven Star LLC supplies the RXM4AB2F7 in Oman and the GCC as an independent supplier based in Muscat.
Reading the reference: RXM4 means four changeover contacts, AB2 the version with LED, and F7 the coil code for 120 V AC.

Coil and four-pole contact data of the RXM4AB2F7
Rated operational current: 3 A 28 V DC NC IEC; 3 A 250 V AC NC IEC; 6 A 28 V DC NO IEC; 6 A 250 V AC NO IEC; 6 A 277 V AC UL; 8 A 30 V DC UL. Coil or control voltage: 120 V AC 50/60 Hz. Contacts: 4 C/O. Mechanical durability: 10000000 cycles. Electrical durability: 100000 cycles resistive.
Four contacts let one relay duplicate a signal to several circuits. Each contact is rated lower than on the 2-pole version because of the compact housing.
Compared with the 2 C/O version of the RXM4AB2F7
Where the load is heavy, the 2-pole RXM2 with 12 A suits better. For multiple signals, the 4-pole unit saves space. The 120 V AC coil is typical on systems in North America and some Gulf control panels.
Selection checklist for the RXM4AB2F7
- Four C/O contacts at 6 A.
- Coil 120 V AC.
- Socket for four poles.
- LED indicator.
- Voltage compatibility with the panel.
- Life.
Wiring and maintenance of the RXM4AB2F7
Use the matching four-pole socket and wire each pole separately. Check the coil voltage before energising.
Replace relays with the same coil code.
Typical applications of the RXM4AB2F7 in Oman and the GCC
In Oman and the GCC this relay is used on interface and signal-multiplication duties in control panels.
Dimensions, environment and approvals of the RXM4AB2F7
The RXM4AB2F7 weighs 0.037 kg. Mounting, derating and enclosure choices follow the environmental data below, which should be compared with the actual panel temperature and the dust and humidity of the site in Oman and the GCC.
Ambient temperature limits in the datasheet: -40 to 55 °C. Ingress protection: IP40 conforming to IEC 60529. Vibration resistance: 3 gn ± 1 mm 10 to 150 Hz5 cycles in operation; 5 gn ± 1 mm 10 to 150 Hz5 cycles not operating. Shock resistance: 10 gnin operation; 30 gnnot operating. Standards listed: CSA C22.2 No 14; UL 508; IEC 61810-1. Certifications listed for this reference: UL; Lloyd’s; CE; CSA; GOST; IECEE CB Scheme.
With four poles in a miniature housing, thermal build-up is the main design limit of the RXM4AB2F7: each contact is rated lower than on the two-pole relay, and running all four poles near the limit raises the temperature of the coil. Leave a free slot between hot relays when several are mounted in a row, and avoid mounting them directly above heat sources such as power supplies. The coil is AC, so an AC relay may hum if the supply is poor or the plug contacts are dirty; a quiet relay is a sign of a good supply. Where one pole must carry a safety-related signal, do not mix it with the other poles on the same relay unless the circuit design allows it, because voltages on different poles must respect the creepage distances in the datasheet. Keep the socket and the relay together as a pair in the spares list, since sockets for different pole counts are not interchangeable.

About brand
Schneider Electric is the French group for energy management and industrial automation: low and medium voltage switchgear and circuit breakers, motor control, drives, PLCs, power monitoring, UPS systems and building management. Its history goes back to 1836, when the brothers Adolphe and Eugène Schneider took over the iron and steel works at Le Creusot in Burgundy. Over the 20th century the company left steel and heavy engineering and became an electrical group through acquisitions such as Merlin Gerin, Télémécanique, Square D and Modicon. Its head office is in Rueil-Malmaison near Paris, and its shares are listed on Euronext Paris.

Milestones
- 1836: The Schneider brothers acquire the Le Creusot works; the business grows in steel, locomotives and heavy engineering.
- 1975: First investment in Merlin Gerin, a French maker of electrical distribution equipment.
- 1988–1992: Télémécanique, Square D (USA) and Merlin Gerin join the group, making it an electrical specialist.
- 1997: Modicon, the company behind the first programmable logic controller, joins the group.
- 1999: The group takes the name Schneider Electric.
- 2007 and 2014: APC (UPS and data centre power) and Invensys (process automation) are acquired.
Choosing Schneider Electric breakers and motor control
Circuit breakers are chosen by current and breaking capacity. Acti9 miniature circuit breakers (iC60, C120) protect final circuits up to 125 A. ComPacT NSX molded case breakers cover about 16 to 630 A, and the letter after the frame size sets the breaking capacity: B, F, N, H, S, L from lowest to highest. MasterPacT air circuit breakers are used as main incomers on large switchboards. For motors, a TeSys contactor with an LRD overload relay or a GV2 motor circuit breaker suits direct starting, an Altistart soft starter reduces starting current, and an Altivar drive controls speed. The breaking capacity must always be at least the prospective short-circuit current at the point of installation.
Where Schneider Electric products are used
In Oman and the GCC, Schneider Electric equipment is found in main and sub-main switchboards of commercial and residential buildings, motor control centres in water, oil and gas and industrial plants, substations protected by Sepam and Easergy relays, data centres powered by Galaxy and APC UPS systems, and buildings controlled by EcoStruxure Building Operation.
APC by Schneider Electric: UPS and critical power
