Schneider Electric LC2D09BD 9 A TeSys Deca Reversing Contactor
Description
LC2D09BD contactor: a pre-assembled reversing pair with 24 V DC coils
The LC2D09BD is a Schneider Electric contactor described in the datasheet as: TeSys Deca reversing contactor – 3P(3 NO) – AC-3 – <= 440 V 9 A – 24 V DC coil. A reversing contactor lets a three-phase motor run in both directions by swapping two phases. The LC2D09BD supplies two 9 A contactors preassembled with a mechanical interlock and wired power connections, so the installer does not have to build the reversing circuit. Seven Star LLC supplies the LC2D09BD in Oman and the GCC as an independent supplier based in Muscat.
Reading the reference: LC2 indicates the reversing version of the Deca contactor, D09 the 9 A frame and BD the 24 V DC coil, as confirmed by the coil rows. The datasheet also shows one NO plus one NC auxiliary contact.

Power circuit and coil data of the LC2D09BD
Utilisation categories: AC-3; AC-1; AC-3e. Rated operational voltage: Power circuit <= 690 V AC 25 to 400 Hz; Power circuit <= 300 V DC. Rated operational current: 9 A (at <60 °C) at <= 440 V AC AC-3 for power circuit; 25 A (at <60 °C) at <= 440 V AC AC-1 for power circuit. Motor power ratings: 2.2 kW at 220 to 230 V AC 50-60 Hz; 4 kW at 380 to 400 V AC 50-60 Hz; 4 kW at 415 V AC 50-60 Hz; 4 kW at 440 V AC 50-60 Hz. Coil voltage: 24 V DC. Coil operating limits: 0.1 to 0.25 Uc (-40 to 70 °C):drop-out DC; 0.7 to 1.25 Uc (-40 to 60 °C):operational DC; 1 to 1.25 Uc (60 to 70 °C):operational DC. Inrush coil consumption: 5.4 W 20 °C. Hold-in consumption: 5.4 W 20 °C.
Because the coil is 24 V DC, the contactor can be driven directly from a PLC output sized for the coil current, which is useful on machines with a 24 V control supply.
Why the interlock and the wiring in a reversing set matter
If the two contactors close at once the three phases short-circuit. The mechanical interlock between the two devices prevents that physically, and the pre-wired power links remove the common error of mis-wiring the reversing connections.
A good reversing control also adds an electrical interlock through the auxiliary contacts and a short delay before the reverse command so that the motor has time to decelerate. For heavy loads, take the plugging category into account: reversing from full speed is a hard duty for the contacts.
Choosing the LC2D09BD: a short selection checklist
- Motor power and current, and whether reversing is done from standstill or on the run.
- Control voltage: 24 V DC for this reference.
- Auxiliary contacts required by the interlock scheme.
- Matching thermal overload relay or motor circuit breaker.
- Whether a coil surge suppressor is already present in the datasheet.
- Panel space for the pair and the wiring kit.
Mounting, wiring and service life of the LC2D09BD
Mount on a rail, wire the supply to the upper terminals and the motor to the lower ones, and connect only the control side. Because the power circuit is pre-wired, check that the phase rotation is correct on both directions during commissioning.
Test the interlock by trying to energise both coils with the motor disconnected; neither contactor should accept the second command. Check contacts for wear at the interval set by the duty.
Where the LC2D09BD is used in Oman and the GCC
Reversing contactors are used on door and gate motors, hoists, conveyors that run both directions, valve actuators and small positioning drives in the region. Their 24 V DC coil is common in OEM machines imported to the Gulf.
Dimensions, environment and approvals of the LC2D09BD

About brand
Schneider Electric is the French group for energy management and industrial automation: low and medium voltage switchgear and circuit breakers, motor control, drives, PLCs, power monitoring, UPS systems and building management. Its history goes back to 1836, when the brothers Adolphe and Eugène Schneider took over the iron and steel works at Le Creusot in Burgundy. Over the 20th century the company left steel and heavy engineering and became an electrical group through acquisitions such as Merlin Gerin, Télémécanique, Square D and Modicon. Its head office is in Rueil-Malmaison near Paris, and its shares are listed on Euronext Paris.

Milestones
- 1836: The Schneider brothers acquire the Le Creusot works; the business grows in steel, locomotives and heavy engineering.
- 1975: First investment in Merlin Gerin, a French maker of electrical distribution equipment.
- 1988–1992: Télémécanique, Square D (USA) and Merlin Gerin join the group, making it an electrical specialist.
- 1997: Modicon, the company behind the first programmable logic controller, joins the group.
- 1999: The group takes the name Schneider Electric.
- 2007 and 2014: APC (UPS and data centre power) and Invensys (process automation) are acquired.
Choosing Schneider Electric breakers and motor control
Circuit breakers are chosen by current and breaking capacity. Acti9 miniature circuit breakers (iC60, C120) protect final circuits up to 125 A. ComPacT NSX molded case breakers cover about 16 to 630 A, and the letter after the frame size sets the breaking capacity: B, F, N, H, S, L from lowest to highest. MasterPacT air circuit breakers are used as main incomers on large switchboards. For motors, a TeSys contactor with an LRD overload relay or a GV2 motor circuit breaker suits direct starting, an Altistart soft starter reduces starting current, and an Altivar drive controls speed. The breaking capacity must always be at least the prospective short-circuit current at the point of installation.
Where Schneider Electric products are used
In Oman and the GCC, Schneider Electric equipment is found in main and sub-main switchboards of commercial and residential buildings, motor control centres in water, oil and gas and industrial plants, substations protected by Sepam and Easergy relays, data centres powered by Galaxy and APC UPS systems, and buildings controlled by EcoStruxure Building Operation.
