Selecting the version

The ATL family splits as follows: ATL100 for single-phase two-source panels, ATL500 and ATL600 for three-phase two-source panels, ATL800 for two sources plus a tie-breaker and ATL900 for three sources with two tie-breakers. Pick the one that matches the single-line diagram.

Check the voltage range and the number of relay outputs against the contactor or breaker coils and the generator start signal.

Applications and installation

Typical use is a mains and generator changeover panel for pumping stations, telecom sites, data rooms and building services. The controller is panel-mounted or DIN-rail mounted depending on version.

Dimensions are listed in the table. Relay outputs and inputs are programmable; use the Xpress software or the optical interface to configure.

For panel design and commissioning, the practical figures to keep at hand are: measuring accurancy ±0.25% f.s.; wiring mode Single-phase, two-phase, three-phase with neutral system; climatic sequence Z/ABDM (IEC/EN 60068-2-61); shock resistance 15g (IEC/EN 60068-2-27); vibration resistance 0.7g (IEC/EN 60068-2-6); execution Flush mount; material Polycarbonate; mounting Flush mount – panel cut-out 138×138 mm; degree of protection IP40 on front, IP65 with optional gasket code EXP8001, IP20 on terminals; dimensions (W x H x D) 144 x 144 x 52.2mm; weight 580 g; operating temperature (min) -30 °C; operating temperature (max) +70 °C; number of relay output 3. Lovato order codes describe the product. On a contactor such as BF0910A230, "BF09" is the frame and rated current (9 A in AC-3), "10" is the built-in auxiliary contact (one normally open), "A" means an AC coil and "230" is the coil voltage. The coil voltage must match the control circuit exactly, so it is the most common detail to check when replacing one. For motors, a soft starter limits the inrush current at start and stop, while a variable speed drive controls the speed continuously and saves energy on pumps and fans that do not need full flow all the time.

Where Lovato products are used

In Oman and the GCC, Lovato components are built into motor control centres, pump and HVAC panels, capacitor banks for power factor correction, generator and ATS panels, and machine control panels for industry, water and buildings.
