Lovato LVM40A240 LVM40 Level Control Relay

Description

Level relay with adjustable electrode sensitivity

The LVM40A240 is a modular level monitoring relay from Lovato Electric. Function: multifunction: emptying and alarms, filling and alarms, emptying with priority start-up change, filling with priority start-up change, well draining and tank filling and alarms. It senses the conductive liquid between 5 electrodes and works with SN1, SCM, CGL, PS31 or PS3S electrodes and holders, as the datasheet lists.

Sensitivity is adjustable (2.5-200 adjustable kΩ), the electrode voltage is 10 Vpp so there is no electrolysis wear on the probes, and the relay supply is 220-240 VAC with a power consumption of 4.5 VA.

What to match before ordering

Choose the relay by function (emptying, filling, alarms, priority change) and by supply. Higher-number LVM versions add more electrodes, alarms and time delays.

Use clean-water settings for low sensitivity values and a higher kilo-ohm limit for conductive but contaminated liquids; check the datasheet for the allowed ranges.

Where it is used

Typical use is water storage tanks, sump pumps, boiler feed and cooling circuits. Wire the relay output to a pump contactor, fit electrode holders at the maximum and minimum levels and one common electrode at the bottom of the tank.

About brand

Lovato Electric is the Italian manufacturer of low-voltage electrical components for industrial automation and power distribution: contactors, motor protection circuit breakers, soft starters, variable speed drives, power factor controllers, transfer switch and generator controllers, and energy meters. It was founded in Bergamo in 1922 and has been run by the same family for four generations. Its headquarters is in Gorle, near Bergamo, and it celebrated its centenary in 2022.

Seven Star LLC is an independent supplier in Muscat. We list Lovato motor control, drives and power management products, and supply them to panel builders, contractors and maintenance teams in Oman and the GCC by order code.

Lovato order codes describe the product. On a contactor such as BF0910A230, "BF09" is the frame and rated current (9 A in AC-3), "10" is the built-in auxiliary contact (one normally open), "A" means an AC coil and "230" is the coil voltage. The coil voltage must match the control circuit exactly, so it is the most common detail to check when replacing one. For motors, a soft starter limits the inrush current at start and stop, while a variable speed drive controls the speed continuously and saves energy on pumps and fans that do not need full flow all the time.

Where Lovato products are used

In Oman and the GCC, Lovato components are built into motor control centres, pump and HVAC panels, capacitor banks for power factor correction, generator and ATS panels, and machine control panels for industry, water and buildings.
