Lovato PMV45NA480 PMV45N Three-Phase Voltage Monitoring Relay

Description

A PMV45N relay that watches a three-phase with/without neutral supply

The PMV45NA480 is a voltage monitoring relay for three-phase with/without neutral from Lovato Electric. It monitors the supply it is connected to and, according to the catalogue, performs this function: minimum and maximum ac voltage, phase loss, neutral loss and incorrect phase sequence relay. The controlled line voltage runs from 208 VAC to 480 VAC, and no separate auxiliary supply is needed because the relay is self powered.

Its tripping delay is 0.1-30 s, reset is automatic, and the output is 1 changeover SPDT rated for a thermal current of 8 A.

What to match before ordering

Choose the relay by the system voltage and by what must be detected: phase loss and sequence only, undervoltage and overvoltage windows, or neutral loss as well. The Functions rows of the table list which of these the relay performs.

In practice the output contact is placed in the control circuit of a contactor or starter so that an abnormal supply drops the motor or switches a changeover scheme.

Where it is used

The relay suits commissioning checks as well as permanent protection: reversed phase sequence after a supply change is a common cause of reversed pump rotation and is caught immediately.

Housing: 1U.

For panel design and commissioning, the practical figures to keep at hand are: dimensions (W x H x D) 17.5 x 104.7 x 64.9 mm; weight 85 g; mounting 35mm DIN rail (IEC/EN 60715); operating temperature (min) -20 °C; operating temperature (max) +60 °C; storage temperature (min) -30 °C; storage temperature (max) +80 °C; execution (n° of modules) 1; material Self-extinguishing polyamide; IEC degree of protection IP40 on front; IP20 at terminals. These come straight from the datasheet and are repeated here so that the key installation limits are visible without opening the PDF.

About brand

Lovato Electric is the Italian manufacturer of low-voltage electrical components for industrial automation and power distribution: contactors, motor protection circuit breakers, soft starters, variable speed drives, power factor controllers, transfer switch and generator controllers, and energy meters. It was founded in Bergamo in 1922 and has been run by the same family for four generations. Its headquarters is in Gorle, near Bergamo, and it celebrated its centenary in 2022.

Seven Star LLC is an independent supplier in Muscat. We list Lovato motor control, drives and power management products, and supply them to panel builders, contractors and maintenance teams in Oman and the GCC by order code.

Lovato order codes describe the product. On a contactor such as BF0910A230, "BF09" is the frame and rated current (9 A in AC-3), "10" is the built-in auxiliary contact (one normally open), "A" means an AC coil and "230" is the coil voltage. The coil voltage must match the control circuit exactly, so it is the most common detail to check when replacing one. For motors, a soft starter limits the inrush current at start and stop, while a variable speed drive controls the speed continuously and saves energy on pumps and fans that do not need full flow all the time.

Where Lovato products are used

In Oman and the GCC, Lovato components are built into motor control centres, pump and HVAC panels, capacitor banks for power factor correction, generator and ATS panels, and machine control panels for industry, water and buildings.
