Delta DVP-SX3 Slim PLC with Built-in Analog I/O, 64K Steps
Description
Delta DVP-SX3 slim PLC: digital control plus analog in one unit
The Delta DVP-SX3 is the analog-equipped member of the third-generation DVP slim PLC line. Where the DVP-SV3 offers 28 digital points, the DVP-SX3 puts 20 points on the CPU module and trades some of them for analog channels: 8 digital inputs, 6 digital outputs, 4 analog inputs and 2 analog outputs. A small machine or utility skid that only needs a few pressure, level, temperature or speed-reference signals can therefore run from one box.
Like its sibling, the DVP-SX3 uses the 32-bit processor of Delta’s AS series, with 25 ns for basic instructions and 64K steps of program memory. Seven Star LLC supplies it in Oman and the GCC as an independent supplier in Muscat.
Reading the model name
The listed models are DVP20SX311T, DVP20SX311R and DVP20SX311S. The 20 refers to the twenty built-in points, SX3 to the series, and the last letter to the digital output type: T for NPN transistor, R for relay, S for PNP transistor.

Analog resolution, input ranges and accuracy are not given on the product page, so confirm them in the hardware manual before wiring field transmitters.
Working principle of the DVP-SX3 analog section
The four analog inputs convert voltage or current signals from transmitters into numeric values the program can scale and compare, and the two analog outputs convert program values into signals for devices such as valve positioners, drive speed references or chart recorders. Because the conversion happens on the CPU module, there is no extra expansion-bus delay for these few signals, and the same project holds both the discrete logic and the loop handling.
Typical code uses scaling blocks to convert counts to engineering units, then comparison and PID-style routines for simple loops. For complex control, plan the number of loops and the scan time first.
Where the DVP-SX3 sits among DVP controllers
The DVP-SX3 pairs naturally with the DVP-SV3 in a mixed fleet because both use DIADesigner, the same CPU core, and the same 64K-step memory. The DVP-SE2 is the second-generation alternative with two Ethernet ports and uses ISPSoft instead. For multi-axis machines the DVP-50MC and DVP-15MC motion controllers are the next step up.
If more than four analog inputs are needed, expansion modules can be added on either side of the CPU, up to 8 per side, within the 512-point total. Confirm module compatibility with the third-generation CPU in the module catalogue.
Selection checklist for the DVP-SX3
- Count analog inputs and outputs: more than 4 AI or 2 AO means modules, or a different choice.
- Check the signal type of each transmitter (voltage or current) against the analog terminal specification in the manual.
- Pick the digital output type (T, R or S) to match the loads; remember there are only 6 digital outputs on the CPU.
- Decide the network role: EtherNet/IP scanner or adapter, Modbus TCP, or CANopen master.
- Make sure DIADesigner is available on the engineering laptop.
Installation, commissioning and maintenance of the DVP-SX3
Use shielded twisted-pair cable for analog signals, ground the shield at one end according to the manual, and route it away from variable-speed drive outputs. Keep analog loops on a clean 24 V supply separate from relay coils where possible.
When commissioning, simulate each transmitter with a loop calibrator, verify scaling at the low and high ends, and confirm analog outputs with a meter before connecting the final device. Store the project and a Micro SD backup, and hold a spare unit with the same output letter for critical lines. Remember that relay-output models suit low-frequency switching, while transistor models handle fast pulses.
Typical DVP-SX3 applications in Oman and the GCC
Delta lists positioning control, cutting machines, crane hoists, optoelectronics, semiconductors, textiles and HVAC. In the Gulf region, small analog-capable controllers are used for chilled-water and ventilation plant, dosing and filtration skids, tank level and pump control, compressor auxiliaries and OEM packaging machinery. Sites with high ambient temperature and dust need a proper enclosure, ventilation or cooling, and attention to sunlight on panels.

Delta PLC families and the DVP slim line
Delta's controller program runs from the DVP series through the modular AS series to the AH series. Inside the DVP series, the slim CPUs (among them DVP-SS2, SA2, SX2, SV2 and SE) take slim expansion modules on their right side. The DVP04AD-S2 is one of these: a four-channel analog input module for voltage or current signals, which the CPU reads with FROM and TO instructions.

Ordering Delta parts: what we need
For PLC modules, send the complete type from the side label, including the suffix, and the CPU model it will join. For a rectifier module, send the type, the DC output voltage and current, the AC input, and the model of the power shelf or system it plugs into.
Facts checked against Delta's own 50th anniversary timeline (delta50.deltaww.com), October 2026.

FAQ
Questions about the Delta DVP-SX3 Slim PLC with Built-in Analog I/O,
Answers from our engineering team on installation, compatibility and integration.
01How many analog channels does the DVP-SX3 have built in?
The built-in 20 points are split as 8 digital inputs, 6 digital outputs, 4 analog inputs and 2 analog outputs. That avoids an analog expansion module for small loops.
02What are the DVP-SX3 ordering models?
The page lists DVP20SX311T with NPN output, DVP20SX311R with relay output and DVP20SX311S with PNP output. The digital channel counts are identical across the three.
03Which software programs the DVP-SX3?
It is programmed with DIADesigner, which Delta describes as improving security and system integration. This is different from the ISPSoft tool listed for the DVP-SE2.
04Can the DVP-SX3 control servo drives?
The page lists CANopen DS301 control of up to 64 slaves and a Delta mode that controls 8 Delta servos and 8 Delta motor drives. Highly synchronised multi-axis work is better handled by a dedicated motion controller.
05Which protocols does the DVP-SX3 support?
EtherNet/IP as scanner and adapter, Modbus TCP and CANopen DS301 are listed. Ports include one Ethernet, two RS-485, one USB, one CAN and a Micro SD interface.
