Brand:

Delta AS Series Compact Modular Mid-Range PLC (AS100 to AS500, AX-3)

Description

A rackless modular PLC for automated machines

The Delta AS Series compact modular mid-range PLC is a high-performance multi-purpose controller designed for all kinds of automated equipment. It uses Delta’s self-developed 32-bit SoC CPUs for enhanced execution speed (40k steps per ms), and supports up to 32 extension modules or up to 1,024 inputs and outputs. The catalogue describes accurate positioning control for up to 8 axes via the CANopen motion network and 6 axes via pulse control at 200 kHz, and typical use in electronics manufacturing, labeling, food packaging and textile machines.

The controller has CANopen and EtherNet/IP network communication, and the programming software DIADesigner provides quick hardware and network configuration with built-in function blocks. Multi-layer password protection is included. The AS series adopts a rackless design and DIN rail clips for fast vertical module installation, with a dark gray exterior.

Model naming and expansion

Model names are decoded in the catalogue: AS332T-A means the 300 series with 32 I/O points and NPN transistor output of type A; digital modules such as AS08AM10N-A, analog modules such as AS04AD-A, temperature and load cell modules such as AS04RTD-A, function cards such as AS-F232 and AS-FCOPM, positioning and high speed counter modules such as AS02PU-A, and communication modules such as AS00SCM-A complete the range. Function cards add RS-232, RS-422, RS-485, CANopen, Ethernet, PROFINET, OPC UA, EtherCAT or IIoT interfaces.

The AS500 motion system adds EtherCAT or CANopen motion control with motion commands such as position, velocity, torque, multi-axis interpolation, E-gear and E-CAM, and the AX-3 line provides a CODESYS IEC 61131-3 control solution. Delta says AS500 programs scale to and from the DVP-MC platform.

What to confirm before ordering

The catalogue is series level, so the exact CPU, output type (NPN, PNP or relay), expansion modules and function cards must be listed in an RFQ. Check the axis count and network type (CANopen or EtherCAT) against the drives you plan to connect, such as the Delta MS300 compact AC motor drive on a CANopen network. For the older DVP family see the Delta DVP series PLC page, and for I/O modules see the Delta DVP04AD-S2 analog input module.

About brand

Delta, founded in 1971 in Taiwan, is known on the factory floor for compact PLCs, drives and power supplies. Its DVP controllers are small PLCs often seen in machine panels. Seven Star LLC lists the Delta DVP04AD-S2 analog input module and the ESR-48/30D rectifier module, and sources Delta PLC modules and power parts for panel builders and maintenance teams in Oman and the GCC.

Delta PLC families and the DVP slim line

Delta's controller program runs from the DVP series through the modular AS series to the AH series. Inside the DVP series, the slim CPUs (among them DVP-SS2, SA2, SX2, SV2 and SE) take slim expansion modules on their right side. The DVP04AD-S2 is one of these: a four-channel analog input module for voltage or current signals, which the CPU reads with FROM and TO instructions.

Ordering Delta parts: what we need

For PLC modules, send the complete type from the side label, including the suffix, and the CPU model it will join. For a rectifier module, send the type, the DC output voltage and current, the AC input, and the model of the power shelf or system it plugs into.
