AMETEK ta7000 UHP Gas Purity Monitor (R and F)

Description

AMETEK ta7000 ultra-high-purity gas impurity monitors, R and F versions

The AMETEK Trace Analytical ta7000 is a benchtop or rack-mounted monitor that detects trace impurities in ultra-high-purity (UHP) bulk gases at parts-per-billion and sub-ppb levels. The ta7000 platform combines a dedicated sample processing system, one high-sensitivity detector and on-board data analysis electronics. Two detector versions are offered: the ta7000R with a reduction gas detector for hydrogen and carbon monoxide, and the ta7000F with a flame ionization detector for carbon dioxide, methane and non-methane hydrocarbons.

Seven Star LLC supplies the ta7000 in Oman and the GCC as an independent supplier in Muscat. This page decodes the model suffixes in the data sheet and lists what you must tell us so the right ta7000 is quoted.

Decoding the ta7000 model names

The letter after ta7000 identifies the detector, and the suffix after the hyphen identifies the carrier or sample gas for which the monitor is configured. The data sheet lists the following models.

Model family Detector Impurities measured Sample gases listed
ta7000R Reduction gas detector (RGD) H2 and CO N2, Ar, He, O2, CO2 (models ta7000R-N2, ta7000R-Ar, ta7000-He, ta7000-O2, ta7000-CO2)
ta7000F Flame ionization detector (FID) CH4, CO2 and non-methane hydrocarbons (NMHC) N2, Ar, He, O2, H2, CO2 (models ta7000F-N2, -Ar, -He, -O2, -H2, -CO2)

How the ta7000 detects parts-per-trillion impurities

Inside the monitor a proven chromatograph with rotorless valves separates the impurities from the carrier gas, then a single detector measures them. An internal calibration system and an on-board carrier gas purifier remove most of the maintenance burden that normally comes with gas chromatography at this level. The EDL integration mode uses an algorithm that separates the measurement signal from random electronic noise, and that is how the ta7000 reaches the sensitivity quoted in its data sheet.

Where the ta7000 fits

The manufacturer lists purifier outlet monitoring, air separation and general gas purity monitoring as applications, and semiconductor and LCD/OLED display manufacturing as key markets. In the GCC the relevant users are industrial gas producers with air separation plants, electronics or specialty gas facilities, and laboratories that need to prove purity at the point where the purified gas enters the distribution system. It is a quality-control instrument rather than a general process analyzer, so it is not an alternative to the AMETEK 993X or IPS-4 for combustion or sulfur streams.

ta7000 selection checklist

  • Impurities of concern: H2 and CO (R) or CH4, CO2 and NMHC (F). If both sets are needed, two monitors are required.
  • Sample gas: N2, Ar, He, O2, H2 or CO2, since each has a dedicated model.
  • Inlet pressure: confirm 70 to 90 psig is available with a stable regulator.
  • Impurity levels: the data sheet limits moisture, CO2 and hydrocarbons to 200 ppb in the sample.
  • Output needs: RS-232 PLC link is standard; 4–20 mA with status relays is optional.
  • Laboratory or cleanroom conditions that hold ambient temperature between 16 and 32 °C.

ta7000 installation and maintenance

Use electropolished stainless tubing with face-seal fittings for the sample line, since adsorption in poor tubing will ruin a ppt measurement. Gas ports are a 1/4 inch face seal carrier and sample inlet, with 1/8 inch and 1/16 inch VICI compression connections for actuator air, sample outlet and calibration. The F version also needs FID hydrogen and air supplies and an H2 shut-off line supplied at 57 psi.

Allow time for the system to condition after installation. Response is independent of concentration but it is slow by design, so judge stability over hours, not minutes. Keep records of calibration and diagnostic reports from the printer port for quality audits.

Information to send with a ta7000 RFQ

  • R or F version and the full model suffix for your gas

Site conditions in Oman for the ta7000

Safety and analytical equipment in Gulf plants has to perform reliably in heat, dust and humidity. Before installing the ta7000, check the operating temperature range, ingress protection and hazardous-area approvals against the actual location, and consider shading or weather protection for units exposed to direct sun. Sensor positioning should follow the gas properties and the site fire and gas philosophy, with access kept clear for testing.

Plan the test and calibration routine from the start. Record the configuration and alarm settings of each ta7000, keep the required calibration gas or test equipment available, and agree a replacement interval for consumable parts so that the system stays compliant with the inspection regime at sites across Oman.

120HD, Ranarex, Drexelbrook RCT-1210 Portable analysers and level Hydrogen purity in generators, gas specific gravity, RF level measurement

Most of these analysers work on light absorption. UV analysers such as the 933 and 9900 measure H2S and SO2 by their absorption bands, and tail gas analysers use this to keep the H2S to SO2 ratio near 2:1 for the best Claus conversion. TDLAS moisture analysers use a tuned laser on a single water line, so they respond fast and do not suffer from the glycol and methanol contamination that affects sensor-based analysers.

Where AMETEK instruments are used

In Oman and the GCC, AMETEK analysers run on gas processing and sulfur recovery units, gas pipelines and custody points, refinery heaters and boilers, power station generators and steel and cement furnaces.
