SHAW dewpoint meters and how they are used
The SADP is a portable hygrometer for spot checks. A small sample flow passes over the sensor in the instrument head, and the reading is taken at the sample point. Typical checks are instrument air after a dryer, nitrogen and other industrial gases. SHAW also makes the hand-held SDHmini and the intrinsically safe SDHmini-Ex, the fixed Superdew 3 hygrometer and the AcuDew and SDT-Ex dewpoint transmitters for continuous measurement.
Ordering a SHAW dewpoint meter: what we need
A SHAW meter is defined by its sensor range. State the driest and wettest dewpoint you expect, the gas, the line pressure at the sample point and the display units wanted (°C or °F dewpoint, ppm). For a replacement or a spare sensor, send the model and serial number from the instrument label. We supply to the GCC and provide the manufacturer’s documents on request.

How do I choose the sensor range for a SHAW SADP dewpoint meter?
SHAW supplies its sensors in several dewpoint ranges, and the meter scale is matched to the sensor. Pick the range that brackets your normal reading: a desiccant dryer outlet needs a much drier range than a refrigerant dryer. Tell us the expected dewpoint, the gas and the pressure. If you are replacing a unit, the range is marked on the instrument and its sensor.
Can the SHAW SADP be used for continuous monitoring?
The SADP is a portable instrument intended for spot checks at a sample point, not a permanently mounted analyzer. For continuous measurement with an output signal, SHAW offers fixed instruments such as the Superdew 3 hygrometer and the AcuDew or SDT-Ex dewpoint transmitters. State in your request if a spot-check tool or a permanent reading is needed, so the matching model is offered.
Is there a SHAW dewpoint meter for hazardous areas?
