AMETEK Western Research 9900RM/9900WM Multi-Component UV Gas Analyzer

Description

The AMETEK Western Research 9900RM/9900WM is a single or multi-component gas analyzer used on its own or as the analytical core of a continuous emissions monitoring (CEM) system. It is configured with UV, NDIR, paramagnetic and electromechanical technologies, so one platform can cover most gas species a refinery, petrochemical plant or stack test needs. The RM is the rack-mount version; the WM is the wall-mount version.

Seven Star LLC supplies the 9900 series from Muscat and reviews each analyte list against the data sheet before quoting.

One analyzer platform, several measurement technologies

The high-resolution UV bench gives a linear response with less than 1 percent deviation over four to five orders of magnitude, which AMETEK says makes data analysis simple and robust. A six-position filter wheel provides one reference and five measure wavelengths, so up to five species can be read directly with the UV bench. The dual-beam configuration with a reference measurement keeps noise, baseline drift and span drift low.

In total up to eight species can be measured: five by UV, up to two by NDIR (for example CO and CO2) and one oxygen measurement by an electromechanical or paramagnetic sensor. NOx is read directly as nitric oxide (NO) and nitrogen dioxide (NO2) with no converter and no quenching effect, and the UV method is not subject to interference from water or carbon dioxide. A multi-range SO2 measurement with accuracy better than +/-1.0 percent of full scale is listed.

The wall-mount version can hold an internal cabinet temperature of up to 50 degC (122 degF), which allows the sample to pass through the analyzer at an elevated dew point without a sample chiller.

Applications and what to confirm before ordering

AMETEK lists continuous emissions monitoring, source evaluation and stack testing, and span gas blending as the applications, for the refining, petrochemical, natural gas processing and stack emissions markets.

Because ranges and repeatability depend on the analyte, the configuration is fixed by the application. Send the gas species and ranges, the sample composition and dew point, the sample pressure, whether the oxygen correction is required, the rack-mount or wall-mount enclosure (and the wall-mount material), the area classification with the certificates required, and the communication protocol. If the sample is hot or wet, say so, because the wall-mount heated cabinet is the option designed for that case.

Documents and quotation

To request a quotation for the 9900 analyzer, send Seven Star LLC the full model or order code, quantity, and any nameplate data from an existing unit that is being replaced or matched. Our Muscat team checks the request against the manufacturer document, which can be downloaded from this page, and replies with a formal quotation. Prices, stock and lead times are confirmed per inquiry.

About brand

Process analyzers for sulfur recovery, moisture and combustion are the AMETEK products most often requested by gas plants and refineries. AMETEK, a US instrument manufacturer founded in 1930 and based in Berwyn, Pennsylvania, sells them under names such as Western Research, Thermox and Drexelbrook. Seven Star LLC lists AMETEK gas analyzers, analyzer spare parts and level transmitters, and sources them for process plants in Oman.

AMETEK analyzers and parts listed

The AMETEK products on this page include:

  • 5100HD and the transportable 5100P: tunable diode laser (TDLAS) analyzers, used for example for moisture in natural gas
  • 3050-OLV: process moisture analyzer, with spare boards such as 305110902S
  • Thermox WDG-V: flue gas oxygen analyzer for combustion control
  • Western Research 900 air demand analyzer and 930 analyzer for H2S in sulfur pits
  • Drexelbrook RCT-1210 RF level transmitter
  • Spare parts: PCB assemblies, a protected gold mirror and hollow cathode lamps

Where AMETEK analyzers are used

The 900 air demand analyzer sits on the tail gas of a Claus sulfur recovery unit and measures H2S and SO2 so the air to the reaction furnace can be trimmed. The 930 watches the vapor space of the sulfur pit. Moisture analyzers such as the 3050-OLV and 5100HD serve gas dehydration, pipeline and LNG feed gas, and the Thermox WDG-V measures excess oxygen on fired heaters and boilers. These duties are common in gas processing and refining across the GCC.

Ordering AMETEK analyzers and spares: what we need

For spare parts, send the AMETEK part number, the analyzer model and its serial number. Boards and optical parts change with analyzer revision, and the serial number lets the build be checked in the manufacturer's records. For a new analyzer we need the stream composition, the component and range to be measured, sample pressure and temperature, area classification, power supply, outputs and whether a sample system or shelter is included. For Drexelbrook level transmitters give the full model number, the probe length and the process material.

Frequently Asked Questions

How many gases can the 9900 measure at once?
Up to eight: five by the UV bench, up to two by NDIR and one oxygen measurement.
What is the difference between 9900RM and 9900WM?
