ABB Endura AZ25 Combustion Gas Oxygen Analyzer

Description

Overview

The ABB Endura AZ25 is an in-situ combustion gas oxygen analyzer built around a zirconium oxide (zirconia) sensor cell. The probe is inserted directly into the flue or process gas stream, eliminating sample conditioning systems and their associated maintenance. It provides fast, drift-stable O2 readings for combustion trimming and emissions control in power, cement, petrochemical and steel applications.

Engineering and Design

Measurement range is 0 to 25% O2 with a system accuracy better than +/-2.0% of reading or 0.2% O2, whichever is greater, at reference conditions. Initial dead time is about 3 seconds and T90 response is under 10 seconds, which allows tight combustion control. Long-term drift is below +/-1% of the maximum range value per month, and manual, semi-automatic or fully automatic calibration (AutoCal) keeps the analyzer accurate without removing the probe from the process.

Probes are available in insertion lengths from 0.5 m to 1.25 m with flanged connections. The standard aluminum-porcelain probe measures flue gas at 600-1250 C; the Incoloy 800 version covers 600-850 C. The electronics and AutoCal unit are rated IP66 (NEMA 4). A galvanically isolated, programmable 4-20 mA output and HART (with DTM) connect to any DCS or PLC, and two relay outputs plus AutoCal solenoid outputs handle alarms and automatic calibration sequencing.

Key Features

  • In-situ zirconia measurement – no sample system required
  • Range 0-25% O2 with accuracy better than +/-2% of reading or 0.2% O2
  • Fast response: initial dead time about 3 s, T90 under 10 s
  • Low drift: below +/-1% of max range value per month
  • Probe insertion lengths 0.5 to 1.25 m for 600-1250 C flue gas (porcelain) or 600-850 C (Incoloy 800)
  • Manual, semi-auto and AutoCal calibration with solenoid and test-gas support
  • Isolated 4-20 mA output with HART and DTM support
  • IP66 (NEMA 4) electronics and AutoCal; 100-240 V AC supply, under 10 W

Applications

Flue gas and combustion air O2 measurement in power generation, cement kilns, petrochemical furnaces, steel reheat furnaces and other fired processes for combustion efficiency and emission control.

Frequently Asked Questions

How does the ABB Endura AZ25 measure oxygen?
The AZ25 uses a zirconium oxide (zirconia) sensor cell mounted in an in-situ probe inserted directly into the flue or process gas. No sample conditioning system is needed.
What is the measurement range and accuracy?
The measurement range is 0 to 25% O2 with a system accuracy better than +/-2.0% of reading or 0.2% O2, whichever is greater, at reference conditions. T90 response is under 10 seconds.
Which probe lengths and temperatures are supported?
Probes are available in insertion lengths from 0.5 m to 1.25 m. The aluminum-porcelain probe measures flue gas at 600-1250 C; the Incoloy 800 version covers 600-850 C.
What outputs and communication does the AZ25 provide?
It provides a galvanically isolated, programmable 4-20 mA output with HART and DTM support, plus two relay outputs (5 A) and AutoCal solenoid outputs for automatic calibration sequencing.
How is the AZ25 calibrated?
